"Working with Thais" is a truly awful read and patronising rubbish. Mind you one very bright Thai lady I know in London read it all the way through and loved it. "Tae see ourselves as others see us" as a famous Scotsman once said.
"Reflections on Thai Culture" by Willima Klausner is 25 years old old but timeless and a great resource.
"Thailand's Boom and Bust" by Phongpaichit and Baker is a good warning to anyone thinking of investing in the Thai stock market or even buying a single share.
Probably the best book to read is "Managing people is like Herding Cats" by Warren Bennis. Great ideas for the unpredictability of meaung Thai. To quote T.S.Eliot on Cats:
"For he will do as he will do, and there's no doing anything about it. When you let him in, then he wants out; he's always in the wrong side of the door." Ring a bell with anyone doing business in Thailand? Anyway soon be ringing another bell in Big Mango Bar !!!!
Good luck one and all.........

BTW, I read the book "Working with the Thais" about 3 months ago. IMHO it was a shockingly bad book.

Unless I just had a very old addition, the information in it seemed about 15 years out of date, and it did not reflect AT ALL the experience I have had working with and managing Thai people in the workplace.

Needless to say, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Nope... I was doing some research last year expecting to get shafted by my former employer. He managed to pay me everything he owed me when I left, so I didn't need to take any action, but I still had these references saved on my favorites, so I thought I'd share them.

Yeah. At the bookstore there are more books about building a house, bar girls stories and culture books than anything else. Thanks for the tip...
