Overpaying customers is not the only thing Japan is exporting!

We have all heard the stories, the 444’s and so on. Japanese customers are notorious for being willing to pay a little more than the going rate for some Thai action. Frankly they probably have to given that most of them are not exactly a Thai girl’s idea of good looking, rumor is they get a little weird in the sack and they can be pretty demanding. I always love finding a cutie in one of the Rainbow bars who will tell u all of her weird Japanese customer stories and then beg for u to pay her barfine so she can get some strange, some white meat - same Farang. Providing they don’t try and overcharge me in the short time rooms then I am generally up for it since they appear almost - should I say grateful?

The last time I was in RB 2 in Nana I witnessed first hand how one older Japanese customer walked in and practically took over the bar. He slipped the door guy some money for starters, then the mamasan and then sat down to unload a bag of goodies. There was candy, Japanese desserts and some cookies strategically handed out to particular service girls who had clearly been through the drill before. Then he sat back and started looking out over the dancers. All he had to do was point and she was brought right over and immediately went into the submissive mode of customer/bar girl. Personally I would not want the girls in that manner but he seemed to get a thrill out of it. I checked bin and rolled to a less Japanese oriented bar but one can see why these guys get the attention since at the end of the day it is about how much cash is being spread around - like it or not.

Well this brings me to the point of my story. I read all the time about how China is growing like mad and exporting their issues abroad but I did not expect this to be the same for Japan. I realize Japan is not the only country trying to dump their toxic waste on less fortunate countries but given their boastful environmental record and how much they enjoy the use of Thailand - I was surprised to see how aggressively Japan is trying to foist their hazardous waste on The Land of Smiles.

Seems one of the main thrusts of the new FTA between Thailand and Japan is the enormous allowance that will be granted Japan when it comes to moving their toxic waste from Japan to Thailand. Thailand has amazing environmental laws but as we all know from looking around they get enforced infrequently, if at all. The local environmentalists are fighting back but I wonder if anyone is listening given that Japan is promising more foreign investment as long as we all don’t care how much of their crap they get to dump into the gulf of Thailand. U can read about it here:

I will be asking some of my buddies in Japan, one an environmental enthusiast, to see what they have heard regarding this from their side of the fence.

okay. On a lighter note - LL Patpong review forthcoming…

The thing that irks me somewhat about the Japanese-farang angle is that the Japanese men are welcome in the farang-oriented bars in NEP and Cowboy, but we’re definitely NOT welcome in many of the Japanese-oriented bars in, say, Soi Thaniya unless we are with a Japanese customer.

And have you ever tried to get into a club in Japan? Very hit-or-miss, but mostly miss for gaijin.

The FBSM places like “Ogoto” that you posted about seem to be an exception: they market to and welcome both farang and Japanese. I have one friend at another place who speaks Japanese and English fluently. She said the Japanese tip better and take less time to come, but we’re more friendly.

Have you heard the Rainbow girls use the term “333″ or “555″ referring to their Japanese customers?

Couldn’t agree more but I have pretty good luck while in Japan providing I am in the right areas but I get your point. The Thaniya comment is correct as well.

I was trying to take the middle road with the 444 comment given thet 333 is less flattering but 555 may be a bit of a stretch?

An interesting aside to all this:

    http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/02/23/news/bangkok.php

    quote:

They overcame lobbying campaigns from the large, mostly Japanese-owned car industry and imposed progressively stricter emissions controls based on European norms (Thailand had no emissions standards before 1992).

“… they probably have to given that most of them are not exactly a Thai girl’s idea of good looking,…”

Good looking in the Thai-girl’s idea: the middle-east or mediterrean look.
And I personally also think that men from this part of the world look better than elsewhere. But that is just my humble opinion.
