We continue the quest to get the big project done. A little behind we are but nevertheless we will prevail. For those of u wondering what happened to the bar stool - well we never have found it but we did find out that the stool met a ying and has been shagging his way through Thailand. Proof below:

This strategy of mine appeared to work since we have not had to order any more bar stools given the sudden realization of a warehouse full of baby bar stools. Life is interesting indeed.
Motorcycling still going well. That is until I had a sudden encounter with a taxi. The Taxi emerged victorious and I went to the hospital to make sure my toe was not broken. It was not broken but hurt like hell. I have a few raspberries but nothing major. However the accident happened on my buddies bike which means I spared the Vespa given that it is 37 years old and since it is older than me it might not have faired so well. I am sure my buddy feels differently though. I am back to riding as of yesterday - shaken but not stirred.
Cruised Petchburi road last night in my continuing quest to discover all the massage parlors. The bike is liberating in this regard. Usually when u get in a taxi u need to know where u are going and then u make a stop but with the bike I can just cruise and stop where I want. I ended up in Bangkok Cosy again. I like the fact it is down a small soi, has motorbike parking up front and decent rooms. I waited about 30 minutes while I sipped a beer over ice and contemplated who I might choose. During this time I decided to focus more on watching who was coming in and out and what the different customers were like. As an American, Farang, I tend to sit in the middle of the room so that I can get a good view but yet I don’t feel like I am right up on the fish bowl. That just feels too weird too me.
It is funny watching the other nationalities at work. The first group of Japanese I saw walked right up to the glass and looked over the girls like they were examining fruit in the grocery store. They pointed, chatted amongst themselves - while closely examining all the girls. I am just not able to do that. Another group of guys came in that were either Singaporean or Malaysian - they ventured to the center of the room and looked over the girls. Quietly chatting, intently looking but much less forward than the Japanese. They chose girls quickly and did not even bother to sit down. While this was going on I happened to see the girl I had met last time and she happened to see me - so I went with the tried and true. However - I usually sit down with the girl(s), have a drink and chat a bit. Makes it feel a little more humane - I am not into the grocery store appeal of the massage places. 2 hours later I emerged. Refreshed, happy and ready to get back to work. This approach to short time activity in Thailand is growing on me, but I need to branch out a little more.
I just don’t get it but why does the music in Go Go Bars have to be so lame? One of the best examples of the worst music ever is Farang Connection in Nana Plaza but in general most Go Gos suck. Some exceptions are the Shark Bar on Soi Cowboy and surprisingly most of the King’s Group bars in Patpong. They play a mix of techno, house, mixed hip hop and international pop. My friend and I always find our self grooving in King’s Castle I & II. We sat for an hour one night and decided that if this same music where being played in a place like qBar then we might actually go to qBar more. qBar is getting pretty lame when it comes to the tunes lately. Bed is usually better.
RCA. Saturday night and rammed with people. So many hot girls. Young and ready to party. Kills me. We headed over to Forte club to break in a few newbies to the Thai scene. Forte is not the be all end all but when it comes to an array of hot chicks, great service, dance able DJ music(in between the band and the band ain’t bad) and the ability to walk out and hit a club on RCA - Forte is okay. I think the fun part about it is u can take BKK newbies right in and show them some of the hottest girls in Bangkok but I must admit I am not understanding of how one is suppose to close here. I have been getting phone numbers of the coyote girls(3 so far) and I have been able to meet one of them outside but no closure - yet. My friend took a fancy to one of the hostesses and thought he had worked something out but when we closed the place she said goodbye and left him hanging. I know u can pull outright here but I need to find out how. Anyone with any concrete info to help me out please comment. However - Forte is a great place to take people to get their feet wet and ogle some hotties. I think that is why I like it since I can take people there and show them a good time right out of the gate.
More on Patpong soon…
PS. Thailand is full of interesting characters. Was waiting for a taxi in Bamboo bar the other week and saw a Farang ladyboy. Wow. Mini skirt, tank top, nose ring, bob haircut, overweight, 50+ and sporting a 5 o’clock shadow. Almost scary. I tried not to bust up laughing. Then my friend made a good point. This guy is probably a lawyer back where he comes from and is straight as an arrow but 2 weeks a year he comes to BKK to let it all hang out. I could see it happening. He did have Thai women with him and they were okay looking. Back to reality…
in my experience, closing is something that cannot really be learned and instead is a matter of circumstance. it’s not like closing at one of those after hours clubs, which requires nothing more than a beating heart and some cash. if you are a wealthy thai, then closing is not an issue. if you are a foreigner, then dressing decently and at least appearing wealthy is key. on top of that, you have to know the local lingo, smile a lot and have a semblence of a personality. farang seem to take one of two approaches at these places - either they go totally nuts and make complete tits of themselves or else they turn into stone and are as much fun as a kick in the nuts. just IMHO of course!
