In these times when some rag-a-muffin, badminton playing, hand clapping protesters can close one of the busiest airports in Asia for almost a week (at the time of writing) we could all use some cheering up. Last night a pal and I decided to turn CNN off and hit the clubs. We headed off to our normal stomping grounds way out in the wilderness of Ekkamai/Thonglor. For those unfamiliar, this is where a large majority of hi-so Thai clubs are.
We ordered a bottle and settled in. Got some cheers and smiles and what is your name (yes in these places they will usually speak proper English). We had a good time, but didn’t get anything going with any girls so we decided to pack it in for the night. A bit frustrated at our lack of pro activeness (standard operating procedure for us) we were sulking through the parking lot out to get a taxi on Ekkamai. My friend was contemplating going to Spicy to try and make something happen - we had stopped in the parking lot to discuss his plans and commiserate on the fact that we have no balls to hit on girls.
Now this is why Thailand is so great. Just as we were feeling down, some Thai girls swooped in out of nowhere to save the day (or night I guess). Two girls approach us and say “Hi! would you like to go to a late night club with us?” We look at each other and say sure why not. One of the girls pulls out her car key and the car next to us lights up. A brand new 2 door Mercedes SL something or other. We look at each other and both think “Jack-fuckin-pot”. I get in the back (not much leg room but I’m not complaining) and breathe in the scent of fresh leather and Louis Vuitton perfume (we asked her - it smelled nice and we’re creepy like that).
We pull up to the late night place (a Thai place not the back packer joints) and they buy a bottle. Before we could offer money for the bottle they just ask us to buy some mixers. Ok, deal. They have a third friend waiting. Nice.
To make long story short. I go back to my place with one bird. The girl driving the Mercedes says she stays with her parents on Ramkhamheang but also has a condo on Sukhumvit for when she gets “drunk” - yeah ok. My pal gets dragged back to what turns out to be a ridiculously expensive condo. They both said they were studying business at Rangsit University. Who knows, who cares.
So to all those out there frustrated with what’s going on just remember the dream is still alive in Thailand.

Not uncommon at all. Yep, if you’re young and carefree the sky’s the limit with the regular girls in BKK! And you wanted to go to Spicy, of all places! Hasn’t had decent talent in ages (perhaps ever?), at least compared to Ekemai.

Awesome! A feel good story like this in a time of crisis is needed. What are the names of these clubs in Thong Lor / Ekkamai.
Gotta hit them when I’m back in April.
I, for one, will be back and forth from the US to Thailand for the rest of my life, crisis or not. Hopefully, there are enough foreign folks like me to keep the fun in LOS afloat. This PAD crap will, no doubt, be severe.

@ Expat : regular Thai gals? The Merc SL is a 12-million baht car! Admitedly, the SLK, which is also a 2-door, is dirt cheap at 4,5 million, but it does not have rear seats. So, a SL it was. As bkk22 says: Who knows, who cares.

Gym membership and some decent clothes certainly are a good investment in this country. Always easy to pick up a “normal” girl. Making first contact is the hard part - flirting in Thailand seems to be walking to a girl and saying “can I have your phone number?”. I still find it hard to do, I’m not very good at cold calling. I prefer hitting on good girls if there’s already a Thai girl on the table, a mate’s bird for example, you just tell her to go ask for the phone number instead - much easier.
There are some genuine bad good girls out there, but also lots of ex-tarts. Business man falls for whore, takes her out of the bar and sends her to university so he can tell his mates and family she’s a student. If the uni student is older than 22, odds are she’s a slapper-made-good.
Although it’s nice to get a good girl occasionally, mainly for self-esteem purposes, seeing as I’m a card carrying sexpat, I still think I prefer the p4p scene. There’s nothing like a crawl through the clubs, turning down stunning girls looking for that one perfect body.

Living the dream. I’m probably on the old side now but even I managed one quality pickup last time. I was trying to get a cab while she was dragging me to her absolutely spanking new Honda. Not a Merc but you take what you get.

I was just emailed by my friend that it was in fact Versace perfume. Sorry my designer perfume knowledge is what it used to be. I just looked at he MB site and it was a CLK Cabriolet.
The girls were standard Chinese-Thai girls that you see everywhere on Ekkamai/Thonglor clubs which means that they are not fat.
