What is described above is a pretty unrepresentative sample of your average Hongkonger. But of course, there is a significant wealthy ‘elite’. I use this term loosely as it has no basis in anything other than their money.

Many Hong Kong guys do have mistresses in Shenzhen or Dongguan however. I guess this is a lifestyle-of-the-rich-&-famous-on-the-cheap. Similar to our own rock star lives in Bangkok.

I don’t agree that Hong Kong women present themselves well at all. Mostly they are fashion disasters. Brands win over style almost every time. They do dress better than the mainland girls however.

On the whole they are quite an immature & sexually conservative bunch too, with a high proportion marrying childhood sweethearts. A lot display unhealthy obsessions with gonks, cartoon characters, and a horribly affected ‘cuteness’. Just witness the semi-spastic knocked kneed pigeon toed walks you’ll see everywhere. And if you spend any time in the city you’re guaranteed to see more than a few tearful, childish footstomping tantrums from women to their geeky boyfriends in the street. The answer of course is for the guy to give money.

The good news for the westerner is that there ARE plenty of girls who do not fit this stereotype, enjoy the company of gweilos, and go to the right parts of town to find them. This salary paying nonsense is nowhere near any of thes girls agenda, though they are often happy to play the field and enjoy being treated to nights out. Plenty of overseas Chinese returnees too, who for me are often a great compromise.

Like you, I don’t want a subservient girlfriend, or any girlfriend at all for that matter. Been single more or less since I got here, and (obviously) rather enjoying it.

Women return to abusive partners all over the world, but yes I’m partly English. Plenty of battered wives in other countries too though, not sure what your point is here either. I don’t believe the statistics in the UK are unusually high or anything. Perhaps you have some facts and figures for us? That would be a first.

Do you have an agenda here? You seem to be wildly off-message given the usual content of the site.

Yes, they are subservient, at least compared to your average Western woman, and yes I think it’s great.

Question 2. If A Thai women allows some infadilty because she believes it is part of a healthy relasioship.

Same reason Western women do. One of life’s little mysteries. I’ve met far more battered women who stay with abusive partners in the West than I have in Thailand, but perhaps I’m not looking in the right places.

Domestic violence is clearly a Bad Thing (as well as a separate topic, IMHO), but it doesn’t only happen in Thailand.

Question3. If a Thai lady does have a problem with ger husbands butterflying what are her practical atternatives? Does she leave her provider? If she has a kid then she is used goods with an added expense attached.Limited her chance of bagging a decent guy.

I think you just stumbled across a good point. You answered your own question there, really. Discreet affairs are the way forward.

Yes, there are several ‘brothels’, bars and clubs with young Thai guys to service these women. I think we’ve discussed them here before.
