The Resort is a G-Club on Rachadapisek Soi 13.
I dropped by there last night with another regular contributor to the Blog to check it out.
Extremely curious about the G-Clubs, I have been making an effort to check them out and see what kind of fun can be had there.
The Resort had the same general layout as The Soprano House but not as opulent—a big stage with a band and an island bar jutting out into the main floor.
Unfortunately, we never got to really check out the club or the girls because of the price structure there. After it was explained we immediately left and went to The Pent.
After getting seated and before ordering anything, I had the server introduce me to a saleslady and had the pricing explained to me.
The saleslady spoke good English and I asked her to write the figures down on a piece of paper so there would be no confusion.
A membership costs 20,000 THB and you can choose either 5 bottles of whiskey and 32 drinks, 4 bottles and 40 drinks, or 2 bottles and 56 drinks.
The problem at The Resort is similar to the problem at The Soprano House-the pricing structure requires you to pay before any service is rendered. If the service doesn’t materialize or it sucks, they have your money and there is no recourse.
The problem manifests itself in several ways.
First, every time you visit the club you are assigned a mamsan and you are required to buy her 2 drinks which cost 300THB each or 600 THB total.
In my limited experience at The Pent, the mamasans have been gracious, polite, and worked hard to please. The other night the mamasan scoured the Pent for girls who spoke a little Japanese because two of my friends spoke only Japanese. Of course, at The Pent you can request a particular mamasan, can buy your mamasan drinks, or tip them at the end of the evening so they are incentivized to this behavior. Who knows what would happen if their pay did not depend on the customer being satisfied.
The mandatory mamasan fee at The Resort must be paid by members and non-members and are non-negotiable.
You cannot choose your mamasan at The Resort but must accept the one assigned to you. I questioned the saleslady at length on this point and she even consulted another saleslady and they were certain about this.
The mamasan does nothing except try to match you up with specific girls. Whether she does a good job, makes a decent effort or blows you off, you still have to pay the 600 THB.
You are committed to pay before any services are rendered.
Second, if you want a girl to sit with you, you must buy her 3 drinks for the first 40 minutes and one drink for each additional 40 minute increment. The drinks cost 300 THB each so there is an up front fee of 900 THB to sit with each girl. This policy applies to members and non-members.
This is the same pricing structure used at The Soprano House.
Checking out one girl to see if she is fun costs 900 THB for each girl before any services are rendered.
Just like The Soprano House, the pricing structure makes it impossible to efficiently and economically run through the girl lineup and select out the girls you might be interested in seeing regularly or possibility trying to bang outside the club.
The pricing structure also makes the cost of making a girl selection error prohibitive. If you select a girl and she turns out to have a sour personality, just sits there like a log, won’t dance or let you touch her in anyway there is no recourse—the 900 THB upfront fee is non-refundable.
It doesn’t take too much imagination to figure out what will happen when you choose a girl and for whatever reason she is not into hanging out with you for the evening.
She can bank her share of the 900 THB up front fee, and behave in such a way to make you want to get rid of her or just not make much of an effort to entertain.
Because she has banked most of her fee for the night the moment she sits down there is almost no incentive to please you for the rest of her stay. In fact, she gains financially by not pleasing you.
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what effect this will have on the fun level.
Again, the Resort’s pricing structure makes you pay before any services are rendered or you have any decent information about what services you will receive.
Third, for non-members there is a mandatory 200 THB gratuity/service charge. This is waived for members.
Doing the math does not reveal a very pleasant situation.
For two people to just sit down costs 1600 THB-800 THB for the mamasan charge and mandatory gratuity, plus 800 THB for two drinks.
If you plan to mess around with a girl (and there doesn’t seem to be much point unless you are there for the girls) that costs an additional 900 THB.
So your upfront cost to just sit down is 2500 THB or about $80 USD.
With this type of structure it is fiscally imprudent to just stop by The Resort and check out the action. Once you sit down, you have paid the majority of the cost for a full evening. If you decide to leave after an hour or so most of your value is flushed down the toilet.
You also have to make a spot decision on which girl(s) to hang out with and are stuck with the girl whether she is fun or not. It is not very enticing facing the prospect of being stuck with a dud for the evening at these prices.
Looking at the overall setup The Resort doesn’t seem like a conducive place to have much fun.
I f you are interested in reading about other places to avoid you can check out these posts:

I feel like the BBK places to avoid debunker. What can I say? I LOVE The Resort and all these charges and structures I have never heard of. We went in with some folks and grabbed a table without talking to anyone and bought a bottle. No member, no nothing. I don’t remember any extra fees or charges. I never paid the mamasan but I never go for any of the hostess girls. I only go for coyote girls and u don’t need a mamasan to make eye contact with a coyote girl. Seems to me the only reason to go to member clubs is for the coyote girls. Unless of course you are James who thinks the same girls can be found in cowboy. Right. Might has well go to Karaoke joints if you want rent-a-hour hostess girls.
BBK - it seems with your previous posts you discuss in detail about negotiations and selling tactics. Don’t you think the same thing is going on in the member clubs? Why are u not wheeling and dealing at these places as much as you would in say the Thermae?
Sure - I think they are trying to set the bar high, suss out the cheap charlies and keep the audience right. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
Only positive thing I can say about this post is it just might keep more people from going to the resort. If so - then perfect. Leaves more action for me.

My experience is still limited at the G-Clubs, but I strongly recommend that if you walk into one of these places talk to the saleslady and have them explain pricing before you order anything.
I am not saying don’t explore these places just do it in an educated fiscally responsible knowledgeable way.
These places are stocked with hot women so there has to be a lot of fun to be had at them.
These places are a land mine of hidden fees, service charges, required purchases etc. that are different at every venue and do not resemble the GoGo/Beerbar business model that farangs are used to.
If you just sit down without knowing how the system operates, you are likely going to get a big unpleasant surprise when the bill arrives.
At The Resort, if you sit down, order a drink you have already spent 800 THB for the drink and mandatory mamasan fee plus the 400-500 for the drink.
If the mamasan gets ambitious and brings a girl over and you let her sit down you have spent another 900 THB.
I know a lot of pretentious wannabe high soi Asian businesmen want to give the impression that they have so much money that they don’t care what things cost (and sometimes they do have so much money they really don’t care) but I look at these places as more like a big game.
I want to know all the rules so I can play the game well and maximize my fun with what the venue offers and the money I am willing to commit.
BigBabyKenny
P.S. you might be able to wheel and deal and avoid all the gratuitous charges. I haven’t tried that yet.

I think in any of these place there is no reason not to open a bottle if u want to check the place out. Seems to be the easiest way and the best way to put a nice image forward that you can afford and don’t mind opening a bottle.
all the hostess girls cost money. end of story. avoid them.
no reason to deal with a mamasan until you want to be a member. I do not recall at any of these places paying any mamasan fees. Other than the tips I personally hand them.
I go to these clubs sometimes and I never have a bill. I use my bottles, the mixers are free and I buy no drinks.
Sometimes I go nuts with ladydrinks for the coyote girls but I know what I am paying and I check the bill.
I think all these fees u discuss are not the reality if u become a member or say no to the fees.
Given all this I can’t agree with the premise that the resort is a place to avoid. It would be like saying one night that you offered a girl 1500 baht for short time and she said no so u have decided to list sex as a place to avoid.

I’ve been to the Resort on Ratchada a few times…never had to buy the mamasan a mandatory drink. As far as the select a girl and pay drink immediately, you can usually have a girl sit with you for 5-10 minutes and chant with her before buying a drink to see if there’s a fit.

dude they must be ripping farangs off. first time i went to resort i just bought a bottle, mixers not included. pr girls were like 2 drinks for the first hour and 1 drink every subsequent 45 mins.
memebership is 2k and you get 10 bottles of jw black label or could have been 8. can’t remember. once you’re a member then its free mixers and cheaper girl drinks. its definitely not worth buying individual drinks at the bar as it will really dent your budget.
never had probs with the sale. if we’re in a large group and she’s workin her tial off to make sure we’re all good we tip her 500 bath at the end of the night. of course if you decide not to its entirely your choice.

d - same experience I have had.
l - those prices are pretty much similar to all the places and the membership just gets u a discount and special kickers from time to time.

Smitty and pals walk into the Resort, buy a bottle and have fun.
BBK walks into the Resort, refuses to order a drink, and demands to know precisely how much everything costs - he is making meticulous notes on the pricing schemes with the pen and paper he brought with him for this very purpose.
If it was your club, which of these customers would you be looking to encourage?
I’ve had more fun in the places BBK suggests we avoid in Gulliver’s, which seems to be the only one he’s recommended (and that with the caveat of requiring a “users guide”. Please…).
Perhaps it depends on your approach and attitude.

Maybe the mamasan tried to pull a fast one on BBK, assuming that he was new to the game of G-clubs. Smitty just walks in, grabs a table, talks to nobody, buys a bottle and goes nuts with the coyote girls.

The very idea if rewarding an insipid “PR/hostess” girl with a drink and a tip because she’s just spent the day putting together some kind of look gives me a fukcing headache ;-?

it seems as if bbk always has a much different experience on the level of fun and expense than everyone else.
perhaps they think bbk is a rich asian so they are trying to fleece him. or they think he is a newbie with all of his investigative questioning and statistical analysis going on. or they are just throwing out high prices expecting you to negotiate with them.
bbk - “I am not saying don’t explore these places just do it in an educated fiscally responsible knowledgeable way.”
@bbk - instead of treating this as a financial homework assignment, a better approach would be to just go in and have fun ala smitty style. stroll in, buy a bottle or two, rock out with your c*ck out and own the place.

Just to clarify, I was the “other guy” with BigBabyKenny on the night.
Here’s my experience at the Resort.
We walked in, chose a table we liked, and I looked at the waitress and said, “Bring me a bottle of Heineken.” She looked at Kenny who ordered a drink for himself. So far, everything normal.
The waitress then leaned in towards Kenny — the volume of music in the place precluded talking to both of us at the same time — and started to explain a pricing structure for our drinks. The volume of music is ear-splitting… unpleasant really… and the opportunity to understand a Thai girl screaming pricing info in your ear is pretty minimal. Kenny looked at me, said “I’ll be right back” and went to the front of the club for a quieter chat.
A long fifteen minutes later he came back and said, “Two drinks is gonna cost us 2,400 baht.” So without any hesitation we stood up and walked out.
Kenny was taking notes because he got beat up on the blog last time when his report on pricing structure for Sapranos drew comments that said ‘that’s not right’. I’m sure he was thinking ‘blog’ when he wrote it all down at Resort.
I wasn’t with Kenny while he spoke to the waitress, so I’ve got no idea if he was right or wrong in his report on prices, but I can say that our initial entrance to the bar was quite straightforward… we just walked in, sat down and ordered two drinks. The whole issue started with the server, who, instead of just bringing the drinks, started explaining the pricing structure.
Now, the same thing happened at Sapronos when I went in there about 5 months ago. I ordered two heinekens — one each for me and my friend — and the server immediately informed me that (to the best of my memory) the first drink would be charged at 500 baht each (1,000 baht for two beers), but that subsequent bottles of beer would be 200 each. I understood the reason for the pricing structure, appreciated that it was concern for good customer service that prompted the explanation, and agreed.
I didn’t like Sapronos at all, but I liked that fact that they clarified the unusual pricing practice up front to avoid later misunderstandings. I thought it was good customer service.
I assumed that the explanation from the waitress at Resort was similar (ie. the first drink is at a premium price, but further drinks will be closer to normal prices). I was surprised when Kenny came back with the same report he has detailed above, but I think it would be unfair to imagine Kenny coming in with a notepad, a calculator and a pen and quizzing the hostess at the front door about pricing before taking a chair.
In any event, by the time Kenny returned with his report, I’d been sitting in the the club for close to 20 minutes and it wasn’t much to my taste.
The band was playing pop music from the 80s and 90s and the volume was too loud. The room was basically just painted black, with little in the way of decoration, aside from some chandelier-type stuff hanging from the ceiling. The space was broken up by numerous pillars that blocked sight lines. Although it was about 10:30 p.m. the place was about 20% full, and wherever the coyote girls were that Smitty is talking about, they weren’t anywhere to be seen during my 20 minues sitting alone on a stool. I was, frankly speaking, happy to leave.
We went straight to the Pent Club, where I have always enjoyed myself. Nice surroundings, loud and quiet areas, hot girls, good service, relatively reasonable prices and because of the three different spaces, no requirement to listen to cheesy pop music sung by semi-talented Thai singers unless that’s your thing.
I think the Thai g-clubs are not really for me… I think I enjoy the Pent specifically because it operates on a different model from the others.

a - I know BBK knows how to negotiate. He knows about the game here, the face and the system. I think with all the member clubs it takes some time to sort them out and get settled in. My take is the cost of one bottle and some mixers anyone can sort out how they like a place and get a real sense of attitude and pricing. I think getting quoted some book rates and then moving on is not a fair assessment of a venue. That is all I am trying to say.
I had my best night ever at Fort the other night and I had almost given up on the place.
DW is the one waving his cock around. not me.

I ain’t selling the place. Resort sucks. No one should go.

boys, and this is not directed to bbk whatsoever, but only chumps would rock upto a coyote and buy a beer. it would just show that you have no idea wtf ur doing there and/or trying to be cheap which in actual case is stupidity cos the club will kill you back with their price of beer. so just buy a bottle!
trust me, i bought a beer the first time i went in to a coyote and drew many a queer look.

@limmy: What if you don’t like spirits?
I believe Forte offer a members package where the member gets x bottles of Heineken instead of the whisky.

Pent offers a Beer option as well. As long as you don’t order a Leo I think the girls will be okay with it ;).
On the whole member club thing, I think you get a pretty accurate picture from reading all sides of this. That is, pricing varies. A place like the Pent it varies way less which is why the experiences are similar. Other clubs, you never know what shady character you will get and what their intentions are so the deals vary.
I have been to Pegasus, Sopranos, Forte, and Pent and the pricing was similar in all of them, almost exactly the same. Maybe I was just lucky but I never encountered the pricing BBK talks about. Of course though, I show my Pimp Union Card so that might help the situation.

Yeah, I just finished my membership at Pent and I wanted to sign for a new one. My mamasan recently left the Pent, so I sat down with a different girl to do the new membership. She looked at me and asked, “So, you had the 30,000 baht membership, right?” No, I said… 20,000.
I don’t actually think there’s a 30,000 baht package… I think they just start high to see if they can get it.
Absolutely, at the Pent you can mix & match beer & whiskey. One bottle of whiskey can be traded for 10 bottles of beer & vice versa.
I don’t think the girls pick you as a cheapskate cause you drink a beer instead of whiskey. In fact, I don’t think they’d care if you drank orange juice or coke (which I sometimes do) as long as you buy a drink for them.

I recreate that sophisticated g-club hi-so prostitution vibe in the Nana carpark by dragging a couch out of the Nana Hotel and paying the girl on it 900 baht to scowl at me while I set fire to to twenty thousand-baht bills and twinkle winningly at the girls on the corner.

You can go to a G-Club, buy one or two drinks for yourself and watch the sexy coyoto-dancers. There is no use in having one of the hostess girls sit with you because the music is just too loud, maybe you won’t like her but still have to pay hundreds of bahts.
In my opinion this whole Gentlemen-Club system is just something were “Gentlemen” can show how much money they can throw for nothing.
I’ve seen this things in other countries too. In Mumbai for example there were the infamous “dance-bars”. Posh places in which the rich locals came and showed the others howmuch money they could (literally) throw at the girls WITHOUT getting something in turn.
Bunch of losers.

bbk seriously needs to relax and be more ‘bad’. Negotiating upfront is seriously lame. And so is walking into a G-club and ordering a beer to assess the place. Why not order a bottle of whiskey. It won’t cost that much more than a few beers. And the prices in all these places are more or less standard. If they weren’t then their customers would patronize other places. With the sales, I find it better to strike a relationship with them first and making sure they take care of by ordering a bottle and getting a girl. By the end of the night the bill will be anywhere from 5 to 10K. Then the sales will mention buying a membership. If you like the place then this makes sound economic sense. You can usually get a membership that gives a couple extra bottles to come back several more times by paying up an extra 5K to what you’ve already been billed. So paying a bit more gets you several more visits as well as taking care of what you already drank. If you don’t like it, you can take the bottle with you or leave it there and come back another time without getting a membership.
On another note, I explored a new coyote joint out on Srinakarin Road last night that is worth a visit. It’s called V-Club and is across the street from Seri Centre (just past Seacon Center). It’s next to another club called Mem Hip. It’s a small place with only coyote girls but they are extremely friendly, speak decent English and are not shy of farang company. The music when I was there was a DJ who was spinning good dance music with remixes of folk songs. He’s quite good. By the end of the night I was slurping tequila shots off my coyote’s chest. It’s run by a hot ex-coyote and her boyfriend. They’re young so they keep the vibe really fun.

Ato: That’s acually why I like the Pent. 2 out of 3 visits I go there alone, and I head to the disco. I never ever buy drinks for the hostesses. The coyote girls I know and like come talk to me between dances and drink my whiskey; they chat and joke with me and make me laugh. I can put my arm around their hard young bodies and cop a feel now and then if I want, but none of them has indicated a willingness to go further than that. Nobody hassles me for ladydrinks or barfines. I do like go go bars — Pent gives me the chance to go someplace alone with the music & dancing part of a go go without any hassle (but also with very little chance that I’ll get laid).

ww - for sure they are selling which is why sometimes people negotiate at these places. Hence my confusion for BBK doing what appears to be very little negotiations and then writing the place off as a place to avoid. Either way. Resort does suck. No one should go.
ato -it is a place to party where u forward pay your booze as market rates. While having plenty of eye candy and great service. I agree - no reason to waste money on the hostesses but the coyote girls are hot, fun and available.
bkku - great points and thanks for the tip. sounds like I need to check this place out.

First Issue: The accuracy of the pricing.
When I went to The Soprano House, The Resort, and, The St. Moritz (post forthcoming) at each place when I walked in the door, the girls waiting inside the door asked if I was member.
In all of these places except the Resort, when they found out it was my first time, a saleslady immediately came over, seated me and my friends, and asked about our interest in buying a membership.
At the Resort, I am certain a saleslady would have come over shortly after we sat down but I asked for one when the waitress started trying to explain all the required charges with her limited English.
The salesladies at The Pent have a quota and get paid primarily on a commision basis so I think anyone who is not a member is going to be approached by a saleslady at some point.
The sales appoach at all these places was very low key and low pressure. Mostly it was just an explanation of the pricing, what was included, and an offer to be shown around the club to check the place out.
The salesladies were uniformaly young and attractive and were not adverse to using their “Girl Power” to get a sale, e.g. “inadvertant hip bumping, guiding me to the table by holding my arm and letting a breast inadvertently rub on my arm, leaning into my personal space and letting me get a good look down their cleavage etc.
I give The Resort points for honesty by letting you know what is involved before you order anything. This is not like a patpong GoGo where they scam by adding things you didn’t order and hope you don’t notice.
These are upscale places dealing with educated people and make their money from repeat dealing so you would expect them to avoid scamming and the impression I have gotten is that unlike some GoGo bars they deal honestly.
In each of these places, it was the saleslady who took out the paper and pencil to explain all the options available.
IMHO, you need to know all the options or you are likely to make a mistake.
For instance, I don’t drink alcohol so if I bought a memberhship I would buy fewer bottles and more drinks that can be used pay the girls for their time.
I would want to check out if the implied price for the ladydrinks changed as the bottle/drink ratio changed.
Another examples is these clubs reguire you to use the membership up within a year. At The Resort, they were willing to extend the time period to two years. At the St. Moritz, they were only willing to extend 3 months. For a person who doesn’t live full time in BKK, this point makes a difference.
Second, Free Dancers.
The Pent is the only place where spending time with the Coyote dancers is free–sort of.
At the other 3 G-Clubs I have visited, the stiff upfront fee applies to hostesses and dancers. At some of the clubs, e.g. The St. Moritz, the dancers upfront fee is higher than the hostesses.
There is no free female companionship at any of these places.
If you want to talk or interact with one of the girls, you have to pay their fee.
The Pent is unique in that the you don’t have to automatically pay if a coyote dancer comes over to your table.
Of course, I don’t think the Pent Coyote Dancers will stay long if you don’t buy them a drink.
The Pent is also unique in that the dancers are not required to stay with you if you buy them a drink and continue to buy them drinks.
At the other clubs, once you have the paid the upfront fee the hostess or dancer stays with you as long as you want. The dancers leave periodically to dance but they return to your table when they are done. The girls are not free to leave a customer and switch to another prospect–as long as you continue to buy drinks.
At The St. Moritz, a hostess whom I spent time with, gave me her phone number and advised me to call her before I came to the club to check to see if she was already with a customer. She didn’t want me to make a trip to the club to hang with her and find out she was already taken for the evening.
I don’t think it is feasible to spend time in these clubs and expect to do avoid the fees for the girls.
Third, the consistency of the pricing.
The only variable in the pricing structure seems to be the size of the membership, i.e. 20,000, 30,000 and 50,000 THB seem to be the standard price points.
I didn’t get into enough detail to figure out if there is an implied volume discount with the larger membership, i.e. the per bottle price or the implied price for girl drinks falls with a larger membership.
The other features–the front loading of the fee, the mandatory mamasan fee at The Resort, the number of drinks for each time interval etc. are uniform for all members and appear to be non-negotiable.
The mandatory fees and front loading are subject to negotiation.
The salesladies get paid by commission so you might be able to cut an under the table deal where she rebates part of her commission under the table to close the deal. This would probably get her into trouble if it became public but if it was kept on the down low you might get away with it.

PSI: Okay, mate, more for you and smitty. All I said was that I don’t think g-clubs overall are really my thing based on my limited experiences at Sapranos & Resort. Obviously there are people who love ‘em or they wouldn’t exist.
I LOVE the Pent, but I think that I like it so much because it runs on a very different model from the two other g-clubs I’ve seen. I spend all my time in the disco with the coyote dancers.
bkkunderground: “walking into a G-club and ordering a beer… is seriously lame”. That’s just crap. Being a whiskey-drinker doesn’t make a fella suave and debonair, it just makes him a whiskey drinker. I like beer and Kenny doesn’t drink alcohol; why shouldn’t we drink what we like?
That said, I enjoy the coyote places, so the tip on the V-club sounds like the go. I promise that if I go in and order a beer, I won’t embarrass you by mentioning your name.

I’ve never heard of these charges and never had to pay them either, not even the first time I walked in. But please any farang do not go to g-clubs avoid them like the plague. Only go to Cowboy or Nana, really just do that. I’ll take one for the team and go to the g-clubs for your guys.

werewolf: I didn’t mean to imply drinking whiskey is suave and debonair. I personally prefer beer myself but will drink whiskey when i go to the g-clubs. Since the g-clubs tend to be more of a group social outing here than say going to a go-go bar it always makes more sense to open a bottle where everyone can share, including the dancers etc. Ordering a beer just signals to everyone that you may leave after one bottle so they don’t have much incentive to cater to you. Since the prices work out to roughly the same if you go in a group of 4 I always end up with the whiskey. I’ve never gone to a g-club on my own so not sure in that case what drink I would choose. Good luck at V-Bar, the girls seem to prefer tequila shots anyways so the beer should go down fine.

Can’t agree with those bashing BBK for wanting to carefully verify pricing and services before investing a lot in drinks and/or membership. Seems a prudent step when dealing with Thai bar businesses who often see farangs as sheep for shearing, and avoids unpleasant check-bin surprises later. I would presume even very experienced G-Club customers would normally ask the price of a bottle the 1st time they visited a new club.
If the bar is going to quote high prices for questionable services, then walking out is the right message to send.

Penfold,
Technically, I guess you can just keep going back, sipping from your bottle and making it last forever but, practically, I think the club might say something eventually.
Personally, a bottle seems to last me forever because I don’t drink so the only way it gets depleted is if my friends drink it or I offer drinks to my mamasan, server, or the girls in the bar.
I am not sure but a bottle of whiskey must be good for a hundred drinks?
DJ,
Like I wrote in a previous comment, the G-Clubs are like a big game. I want to know all the rules so I can play the game well and play to win.
What I want to do at the G-Clubs is go through their girl lineup, find the girls who physically turn me on, find the girls who have fun cool personalities, find out what types of fun they are good for and are into and determine what the price is.
I prefer to do this as efficiently, economically, and with as few problems and waste as possible and to do this requires information.
A few of the same guys who are saying don’t worry about pricing and just go in and have a good time are some of the same guys who complain when SC and Nana bars raise beer prices by 10 baht or have a crappy happy hour promotion so their approach seems paradoxical.
The price for bottles is about the same at the G-Clubs I have been too.
If a bottle is 500 more when you spread the cost over all the drinks a bottle produces it doesn’t make that much of a difference.
The price difference is mostly for renting the girls.
A lot of it is subtle, like whether you are paying for 30 minutes or 40 minutes, whether the girl can voluntarily leave, whether the girl is required to leave, how many drinks you have to buy upfront, whether the girls drink price is significantly lower if you are using the drinks that come with your membership etc.
I got some good free reliable info from one of the other frequent posters to the Blog about The Pent and it was like getting a Christmas present.
It is not that easy to figure out what things cost in these clubs and having someone trustworthy just tell you makes things so much easier and saves so much time.
I suppose one way to find out is to just order whatever, wait for the bill to arrive, and then try to decipher it—not so easy when items may not be itemized, there are random charges you have no idea what they are, there are mandatory gratuity’s you do not what they apply to, you are not sure whether they are standard or you are being scammed, and it is dark.

@Kenny - my comment was for BKKUnderground saying ordering a beer is lame - wearing a cravat with cream chinos and quaffing whisky is the height of cool

Interesting thread. This is my first post and Id like to share my views on the Resort.
I have visited the Resort on three occassions. The first time was with a Thai friend. We were there briefly, just to check the place out. A hostess explained the pricing structure to us and it appeared to be pretty much how BKK explained it.
We held off on becoming members straight away, feeling it would be prudent to see if we actually liked the place and see if it had a good vibe. Beers were what we were drinking (although they didnt have any Coronas)at THB200 a bottle.
Upon leaving and receiving the bill, we were suprised to see three mysterious drink charges. These apparently were the drinks that we had purchased for the mama-san, which I know we did not. After querying these fictitious charges, they were promptly removed by the slightly embarrassed mama san. Now I dont know if it was an accident or slyly added on by the mama san. But I gave the benefit of the doubt and also tipped old mama san.
Visit number two was on New Years Eve. Obviously the place was packed, nonetheless, we were directed to some nice seats up by the runway and close to the stage. We witnessed some Thai pop singer who looked a bit like Britney Spears. I have personally never heard of her but the locals seemed to love her. The prices seemed to be the usual, no increase due to NYE, there were no issues with the bill when we left.
My third visit took place about 3 weeks ago. I didnt have the local friend but took along an old uni mate who is a farang. We arrived there at about 10pm. We waited to be seated and had the mama san from the first visit sidle up start her spiel about membership. I stated that we were just after beers. Now get this. . . We were informed that beers for the whole night would be THB500. I couldnt believe my ears, as its a ludicrously high price.
Being a luuk krung, I then spoke to her in Thai and said ‘Excuse me, why are the beers 500 when the last time I was here they were 200? I also took out mam san’s own business card which she gave me last visit and showed it to her and said ‘Look, you yourself gave me this card the last time we were here and now you want to charge 500 a drink?’
Needless to say, we hastily left. I felt sorry for my mate whom I had promised a fun night out. My opinion was that she just wanted to rip off the young farang boys. I would not reccomend the Resort and feel that there are better places to spend your money.
Two places that I do endorse and also happen to be a member are:
Neverland (Bangkok)
Fashion Club (Pattaya)
The staff at Neverland are cool, helpful and speak English well. One of the sales captains (his name is Beal) looked after us well and then arranged for us to go out afterwards with some of the girls, all stunners, to a club called Infinity. I had never heard of the place, but its a funky underground place that when we went there had 3 Penthouse Pets dancing on the bar. The place sticks in my mind because I remember three Ferraris parked outside the front.
The Fashion Club without a doubt is my favourite place to go out. If I sung its praises, itd take all night. Suffice to say, the staff there are efficient, drinks (and girls drinks) prices very reasonable, and the girls super pretty and can sure dance.
Now im just counting the days until I can return to Bangkok.

For the folks who might be interested in checking this place out, here is a YouTube video from 2005 featuring the Resort. It’s made by an American born Thai male in his 20s and you can see some good footage of the girls there.

Looks like this kid parties with a local Bangkok celeb - Yuth Thongcharoen so your mileage may vary.

I guess The Resort deserves it’s “Places to Avoid” title.
It sounds like just another clip joint where the management tries to scam and hustle for a few hundred baht by taking advantage of anyone anyway they can-sort of like the tuk tuk hustlers and taxi drivers hijacking tourists for “sexy massages” only on a higher level.
There are dozens of these G-Clubs in BKK.
I don’t see the reason to mess around with the ones that have been identified as dishonest.
There is no bigger sanuk killer than having a public brawl at the end of every evening when the bill arrives.
Honestly, why put up with this shit when there are dozens of cookie cutter G-clubs available.
I did notice that at The Pent, The Soprano House, and The St. Moritz they bring a fully itemized bill at the end of the evening which allows you to check all the charges to make sure they are legitimate–so give these places some credit for honesty.

1. Im not sure where Neverland is, as I had a Thai driver. I do know its not in the central Bangkok area but its close enough. Im sure it can be googled.
The girls there are pretty hot, and the pricing structure seems to be cheaper than the Resort. Mind you, membership will be pushed on you as it is everywhere but its hardly aggressive.
I suggest a sales guy named Beal. He will definitely look after you and he speaks English well.
2.The Fashion Club in Pattaya used to be known as Slim. As G-Clubs go, and in my limited experience, I must say its the best place I have ever been.
http://www.fashionclubpattaya.com/contact.html
The link has the address and you can have a look for yourself.
Membership is cheap or you can bring in your own bottle and pay THB300 as a’service’ fee and pay for the mixers.
Ladydrinks are THB250, there is no obligation to buy more or less in an hour, 40min whatever. The staff there are also efficient and speak english well.
There are 2 shows every night, topless and full naked.
Often there are themed nights - last time i went it was soldier/army. Very hot
The girls are really pretty, for example: dek deks (young looking), white skinned, skinny hi so look, luuk krungs, and model girls that have had their boobs done.
VIP rooms on the second levels with poles. I think that they are THB1500.
Crowd is probably Rich thais, hi so young locals and the farangs are mostly chinese, japs, koreans and the odd aussie,uk,seppo or euro who has stumbled a long way from walking street.
The girls are also not adverse to going out with you afterwards. On the last three occassions, a few different girls went out with myself and a friend for the obligatory before bed noodles.
Unfortunately faced with pigs tripe and liver in noodles, I had to defer and say ‘Pom gin mai pen’ and settled on a water and packet of Paprika chips.
After 3 visits over a month, I managed to persuade my favourite coyote to come back to my room for drinks. Nuff said.
3.As for the club Infinity, I have no idea where it is. Its an after hours club cos we got there about 4am. Its smallish but attracts a good looking young crowd and Im also guessing well off, considering the imported cars parked out the front. The music there is mostly house, bit of breaks and the ubiquitous hip-hop that the Thais are now so fond of. Its a great little place but it would take a miracle for me to find it again.
Apologies for the long reply.
