I have a few on-line friends. Some I have known for a few years, since yahoo was first invented and some from more recent times.

One of these friends has a great job working at a major multi-national, has her own condo and is making a boatload of money. She and I always say hello online and occasionally meet up for a drink. I have never slept with this woman (despite pitching it a few times), the reason according to her, is that early on she positioned me as her big brother. We talk about sex as openly as the debate on this site - she regularly, like once a week, goes out and gets laid. She's 33 now and her preference is guys in the 24 - 32 bracket. One of her haunts is Bed.

20 years ago this would not have happened. Even now she knows that she is not the norm - and she digs that. Her stance on sexual liberation is becoming less of a rarity. it is entirely plausible for her to see someone that she likes and simply go for it - males aren't the only ones on the hunt ...

sometimes its best to let the fools belief in what they think. why share such treasures with bozos that don't have the initiative to travel and see for themselves or if they do travel to venture out and look at the 'real' life. cut the tourist traps out and 'must see' places.

i don't bother to elaborate to my friends. its like here are some pics. my next trip is on this date, are you keen? if not then so be it.

Let's hear some more little stories from posters. Always interesting.

I always find most people who have no experience with Thailand or Asia cannot comprehend what we experience.
Half the time I don't bother responding to questions.

ts - pussy whipped or they just dont want to recall it all knowing how painful their current situation is in comparison.

The gays get it.

I used to be in a building with a male neighbor from europe. He used to give me shit about the hours I kept not realizing I was running the bar and such. I think he assumed I was lazy and just partying all the time. One time in the lift he spouted off about it since he thought he was the hard-working guy. Not why he even cared but anyway.

I retorted with a subtle - okay I keep strange hours but your apartment has seen more little thai ass than mine ever has. So deal. This dude had visitor every night and I think I hardly ever saw repeats. The gays love it here.

I've fielded a raspy question or two from "the walking dead" back home. You get it at dinners BBQ's and over the back fence. Some start off by TELLING you "Yeah, Bangkok. That's just pedos, hookers and underage sex, right? I rarely reply to this kind of baiting. Then it's a quiet "So, what's it like?" or "Is it really like they say?"

After a while it gets a bit like a prison visit.

Bring a woman back and it's daggers from the wives. At first, at least. I've fielded mean, loaded questions to my gal which have needed partial translating. Several times now as I started to explain in Thai, I've had guy's wives lecture me that they "asked asked her not you" as if I was controlling her.
In polite company, it's usually a pretty good show stopper when the host or someone else steps in and explains that I was just translating.
The worst are guys who've stumbled through here on R&R or backpacking at some point. They know it all, of course and they've probably spilled to their current wives about the pussy at some point but have to agree with her now to keep peace in the valley. Maybe they're just completely pussy-whipped.

Funny enough, the gays seem to get it. So after a few I might say something like "Well, I suppose living in Bangkok is like being gay I imagine. Only, ah, with women."

That holds 'em for a while.

I did indeed think smitty's stories were bullshite. Turned out they were not only true but he was holding back about 90% of it...which is basically why I now live here.
