In case you missed it u can follow all the Thaksin action over here - some pretty solid commenting - seems the wisdom of the crowd is quite interesting this time around.
Visited a new bar on Suk soi 13 for purposes of the Mango Pool League. The place is called Pool 13 and is one of the 3rd bars in the Trendy Condo Building on Suk soi 13. Very cool buildout, nice people, nice tables and what looks like tasty food. Stop by sometime if you are in the area.
Hit cowboy for an after “we got our ass kicked in pool” drink - but I can’t mention that here since this is not the weekly but I will say this LG still sucks and collectively at RH the A and B team must have put on at least 100 kilos.
The pensioner, who had worked at Ford’s Dagenham plant, had been beaten and stabbed to death. Police said it took him seven hours to die.
Yesterday as the pair were arrested, horrified onlookers, shocked at the callous killing, jeered and shouted ‘hia’ (lizard) - a strong Thai insult.
Sounds like something out of a cheap Isaan horror flick. Crazy shit. I love the re-enactment photo showing the jealous lover in handcuffs pretending to club to death a police officer. Never understood those photos - so how did u kill the guy? Let’s see - I took this club and bashed him with it but when I did it for real I was not handcuffed and was able to really swing the thing harder than I am now but u get the drift don’t you? Yes - we do. We got a photo of it. Case closed boys. Let’s go get some suki and a bottle of Sangsom.
I am always trying to get to the bottom of the Thai soapie story to determine where the name came from and why the style of massage is the way it is. I had written about that before here but I have since discovered some new info. It seems the Japanese call these places - Soapland. Here is the wiki on it.
Once I sorted the name out I found a couple of interesting sites - Japan for the uninvited is pretty cool:
Soaplands are known for having some of the better looking, more skilled staff in Japan’s sex industry, which is why they tend to be more expensive than other establishments - ¥50,000/hour is fairly typical.
However this link has the info on the naming of these places soapland:
My favorite soapland fact has to do with how the name itself came about. Apparently, soaplands used to be called “toruko-buro”, an awesomely phonetic translation of Turkish bath. Then one day a Turkish person by the name of Nusret Sancakli got all worked up about things and started some sort of newspaper campaign bitching about Japanese women working in Turkish baths (It remains unclear whether Nusret preferred an all-Turkish staff or whether he was just against naughty stuff in general). The word “soapland” was the winning entry in a nationwide contest to give the brothels a new name. That last sentence is incredible on a number of levels. For starters, let me tip my hat to the people of Japan for having a nationwide contest to rename brothels in the first place. If that’s not a fine example of how you keep things fun, well, I guess I don’t know what is.
The sad part about all of this is that in Thailand the actually soapie part of the massage joints is on the decline. For those that don’t get what I mean I am talking about the actual process of the girls getting out the air mattress, the slippery lotion and going to town on u. This is the soapie or what the Thais call the b course. Only a few places seem to do this anymore and the places that do tell me that less and less girls are wanting to do it. I think there is a real need to bring this back and have some joints that offer a proper soapie since to me the lame ass massage and ensuing banging can be had anywhere.
Moving on. I had written this post some time back and there are some new comments on it:
You would be surprised whats over here in Thonburi and Bankea. We have the Melrose Plaza that does have extra service massage, nearer to Ratchada you will see Venus massage and coyote bar on the right. If you turn left at Ratchada you will have several bars and coyotes clubs, and two mps within one kilometer. If you turn left toward Thonburi at the first bridge you have a new mp coyote bar on the left. Just over the bridge on the left is snow White 1, still further is Thonburi Plaza that has awsome entertainment and women from top to bottom of the 10 story building. MP is on the 9th floor, 2000 all inclusive. Disco in the basement, The Lounge, and the Posiden Pub. All have take away if you are interested. Continue south just past the Mall on the left and to the right of Lumpini Condos is the Krungthon Plaza. Girls are available on all floors and this includes two karaoke bars, a MP on the 2nd floor, and even in the restaurant. If you are looking for some very attractive freelancers just circle the Taksin Monument around 10 pm at night. Yes, the river is good and this side is a neglected oasis.
Terry buddy - we need a write up. I need street names, MP name and so on. Let’s plan a night out.
Peace.
I’m sure we must have some brothers currently in Japan that can be more informative than me, but when I lived there (1995-1998) NO WAY were the soaplands that expensive. Of course, I never actually went to one becasue virtually all that I ever aaw were JAPANESE ONLY. Hard to get Japanese P4P, at least it was for me. Mostly south/central American and other asian.
Of course, I was living with a woman (who I eventually marrired) while I was there, so my opportunities (and cash) were limited.

The reason for the collective weight gain on the RH A & B teams is that the owner had a crack down on yaba consumption. To show she was serious she canned two of the A Team and told them they could not come back until they’d been through a rehab program. They spent two weeks in a hospital in Samut Prakan, came back with clean piss tests and are dancing again.
RH is one of the few bars that takes drug taking seriously. Good for them.
As a side note - RH does officially have three teams, but for some obscure reason they call them 4-1, 4-2 and 4-3. You’ll hear remarks like “I was number two in my four last month” which means she got the second most barfines in her group.
You probably noticed that they RH has several new dancers who are very thin, but they’re not doing shows yet.
View all comments by Arthur
Was in RH last week and they had some young girls working, asked my friendly server how old they were and she said 18. When I laughed she said ok maybe 17 or 16 ! Be careful out there boys!
View all comments by riodon
pg - I will check with my jap p4p expert on the prices.
authur - I hear u but clearly they were not checking before right - that is why the girls were so thin? I am seeing some new girls though that are quite big and doing the shows. Saw 2 of the girls u used to be thin and damn they packed it on. YB is some bad shite.
View all comments by sideshowBOB
r - we have mentioned before the RH mamasan and her theory on when girls can work - it is and I quote. If they can bleed they can dance.
View all comments by sideshowBOB
In typical TiT fashion they have periodic crackdowns and then things quieten down for a while. The owner isn’t there every night and the mamasan is very laissez-faire (she used to be a big yaba consumer herself when she danced and did shows at LG - which boggles the mind. but it was a few years ago).
So the owner will come in and say something like: “that girl looks too thin - get her tested!”.
However RH is consistent about STD testing. Every dancer has a record book from a clinic and has to get a pussy inspection once a month and a HIV test every three months. Cut-money by 500B if they fail to show it before salary day. It’s imperfect but infinitely better than most other bars.
View all comments by Arthur
a - great points - I am sure there is more YB usage going on than people think. Good to hear on the STD testing - probably true that this is more testing than is going on at most bars.

@sideshowBOB - well, of course the Thai name for “soapie massage parlor” has nothing to do with soap, it’s อาบอบนวด (aap op nuat); literally “to bathe, scent and massage”…
I would imagine the use of soap was an importation from the Japanese version (or just due to Thai hyper-cleanliness!), and that the use of the word “soap” to refer to the places was, as with the term “mamasan”, imported into the Thai language from Japanese by expats/tourists who had previously sampled the Japanese variation.
As for the “-ie” or “-y” on soapie/y, I’m betting specifically that one of our UK brethren is responsible, since they seem to love adding the “-y” suffix to words: “footy” (= football), or “brecky” (= breakfast), for example. there are more but I can’t think of them now, it’s too early in the morning and northern California, where I just touched down last night, is damn COLD, messes with the brain…
View all comments by ratchada
r - thanks for the proper meaning - was wondering but for sure the thai version of the soapie descended from the soaplands of Japan - I had heard the first one was in Patpong and started by a Japanese.

I don’t mind girls on yaba. I’ve never found it to be the big demon drug a lot of people say it is (I think that most people who demonise it haven’t even tried it. It’s just like anything else…)
Besides, it can’t have that much effect on a brain and inhibitions if, on yaba, the Rawhide showgirls are STILL doing that really annoying faux-shyness thing of covering their muffs most of the time. It’s especially annoying when you’ve just come back from Pattaya and seen what goes on in every bar there. I’ve never seen a girl in Pattaya cover up like the Rawhide girls. And most Pattaya girls are shaven too. (No Rawhide girls are shaven so we can’t even see much anyway except pubic hair!) Come to think of it, Rawhide is the only bar where girls do this! Shebas is nude and mostly shaven but the girls don’t ‘cover their modesty’. So RH seems so lame.
If there’s one thing the mamasan should stop, it’s that, before the yaba use!

you can find some real quality throughout the whole “water-trade” industry, which extends from hostessing to the soapland brothels. The problem is, as mentioned above, its pretty much Japanese only. i know a HK guy who can usually get in if he goes with his Japanese collegue. But if you are black or white or anything that is clearly not Japanese- forget about it. Most of the gaijin here in Japan are focused on “the nampa” - i.e. the hunt. there is no other way if you are after quality j-girls - p4p is not readily available- and even if you do find a p4p place, chances are you will exert more energy trying to get into the place then you would trying to pick up a chick in Roppongi.

Please don’t blame us Brits for being the first to add the ‘y’ suffix to words. I think that irritating habit is the work of our Australian friends.

Been a long time since my last post.
About Bangkae/Thonburi:
-Melrose Plaza is a naughty massage place indeed. 1500 for the fishbowl girls, 2000 for the sideliners,1h30.
But sadly they do not offer mattress sliding, there is no mattress space in the rooms. The restaurant is quite nice though with cheap calsberg draft served cold. It’s in front of future park Bnagkae, a 60 bahts ride from saphan taksin bts.
-Before future park (from bangkok ) there is a karaoke place called Venus bar, good selection of girls but they will try to push the ugly ones on you first. Demand to see the others. 350 for the room (2h), price of the naughty deed varies.
-Near Siam university there is a place with a tongue twisting thai name. The building is green with painting of girls and something in the line of “fun time, sexy girls” written over the door.
-A bit further down the road after the mall bangkae, there is another karaoke place called “casanova” nice selection of girls, prices are in the same range than the ones at venus.
- Before the Mall you can try the Thai disco “the palladium 2000″ big place, easy to score with local girls.
-On rama 2 very close to petchkasem ( take the motorway left after the Mall ) there is a cool disco called “night speed pub” easy to score and usually a fun atmosphere. Local taxis should know.
-Many small places karaoke and bars on the side sois between petchkasem 50 and 69, plenty of bbq and hot pot places to eat a ton for cheap too ( try soi 69 alongside the klong )
-If you cross the taksin bridge ( ferry for 3.5bahts ) and take let’s say the bus 84 you’ll find quickly :
-Some nice bars toward the end of klong san
-A Thai music/disco/pickup place with an impossible name but easy to find, big white building with pictures of girls and bands, look on your left.
-A few more pick up/karaoke/bar places and pool hall close to the beginning of petchkasem road.
-There is a nice club/pickup place if you turn right on petchkasem ( around soi 41 ) just before tesco lotus. Parking space and lot of girls.
Of course it’s better if you can speak a bit of thai. I don’t care if people hate me for posting this (it’s a bunch of local 2secret places”… ). It’s far from everything anyway and I really doubt a ton of farang are going to start invading.
Hope that helps.

Watch out for the young girls indeed.
First night last trip (late July) I was too eager and BF a pretty go-go from Mandarin. Said she was 20 but when I told her I was going across the road to Nana Hotel she tried to take me elsewhere. I said no and she came with me anyway but told me that she might not get in with her ID. She handed it in and the guard looked at her and shook his head handing it back. She promptly handed it back to him with 200 Bht tucked under it. He took the card. Great night and she had learnt a lot in her young years (a great ball massage included) but I did wonder what age she really was.
Was more careful with the others that trip.
Cheers

The different calender makes it difficult but if you look at the birth year and it is 2532 or lower, you should be safe
View all comments by doctorbond
It’s getting pretty difficult to tell the correct ages. even the formerly water tight “fluff of the muff” rule has become obsolete with girls shaving and trimming. Shitty Esarn laminated ID cards aren’t exactly forgery proof either so Taking these things into consideration the safest option is probably just to have a stable of over 30’s on the backburner.
And the japanese clubs and massagy joints aren’t that great. you have to fight with the yakuza bouncer to get in hoping he doesn’t go the reach and really ruin your night (fucking shinsaibashi assholes). Once you get in they girls are about as interesting as my grandmother explaining the story lines to her favorite novela. Best bets for me (living primarily in the western japanese prefectures of tottori-ken, matsue, and izumo) was always to hit up the drinking areas and basically nurse a beer and wait til a girl talks to you. Waiting doesn’t take a long time on the weekends since your are probably one of a handful of gaijin in the prefecture. hell, the older japanese ladies even paid for the drink and the love hotel for the night.

RRR,
My friend and I live in Bangkhae and Wong Wian. I have a little problem with your information. Not that it is wrong of course, just that I can’t understand them. I am no one to speak as I also need improvement along these lines. However, I have never heard of anyone picking up girls at the palladium. Near Siam, I have looked everytime I have traveled to the future for this green building with girls painted on it. Can you be more specific. I know of casanova, melrose, and venus. The night speed club???? PetchKasem does not intersect or come close to Rama II that I know of. But I am also interested in finding this place as well. The bar on Petchkasem Soi 41 I did not see today. The bar you speak of near the end of Petchkasem with the girls on the front has rooms upstairs and you can entertain yourself there. It is just past Robinsons before the next walkover on the right as you go towards the river from the Taksin monument. Just past Ratchada heading south on Petchkasem there is a karaoke bar on the right with only animated girls painted drinking with each other. It is a karaoke bar that is reported to have good fishing but it is to close to my house to try. If you turn off petchkasem and left onto Pracha Thipok Rd towards the memorial bridge you will find a nice little bar between Tedsaban Soi 2 and 3 that offers some morsels of temptations as well.
Again, Where exactly is the Night Speed Club, the club on Soi 41 and the Green building. It is true many spots are located in this area. I am trying to design a map like the japanese do for the locations nearest and safely located to enjoy.

Terry,
Sorry if i’m hard to understand, english is not my native language.
Night speed pub: Coming from BKK, turn left after the mall bangkae just before the bridge like if you wanted to go to central rama2. The club will be on your right a bit before the big temple.
Coming from the other way, turn left before the mall, follow the big u-turn kind of way you’ll join the same road ( leading to central rama 2, that’s the way taxis take when you want to go to sathorn from petchkasem ).
Maybe it’s not rama 2 road yet i’m not very good with names.
The club “on soi 41″ is not on soi 41 it’s around soi 41 or something close, just an estimate. Coming from the mall turn left on the crossroad after tesco lotus. After a few hundred meters the club is on your left, big johnny walker sign, parking space in front of it. The building is kinda red-ish at night. It’s isolated so you won’t hit the wrong place.
The green building place is quite small, it’s close to siam university, painting of girls on the wall and “good times, sexy ladies” written in black. Probably harder to find at night, i haven’t seen much lights.
Picking up girls at palladium : hum it’s pretty easy actually, maybe you are talking about working girls? I don’t know if there is any, but the local girl are easy to pick up. ( keep in mind that I’m in my mid twenties, slim, ok looking so YMMV)
It’s going to be the same thing at the night speed pub I’m affraid.
Oh if you can find an easy way to go to the “Juice bar” and the “millionaire pub” i own you a beer. Been there once with a friend but he is gone and i just can’t remember how to go there since i was plastered last time.
There is also an interesting looking place on the way to sathorn from petchkasem ( that famous “maybe it’s rama 2″ road ) called white house or white rose, never tried though.
I spotted a street full of bars, karaoke and disco on my way to “the holland beer and shows club” one of those huge thai place with a big neon windmill over the entrance( This one is on rama 2 100% sure ). It’s on a parallel road. Wasn’t able to find it again and that sucks. There is at least 10 nightlife places all on the same block. Found it while going to rama from petchkasem 69.
Any infos would be greatly appreciated of course.
sBOB: the closing times varies greatly. It’s late enough usually.
Cheers

Found this about the night speed pub : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMQQnf0-jXo
“At the Night Speed pub on Kanchanapisek-Bangkae Road, police drug tested staff and patrons for more than two hours but none of the tests came back positive.”
So it’s Kanchanapisek, my bad.

RRR your info is pretty good.
I have been following the conversation between you and Terry and can confirm what you guys say. I also live in this area and as I have a car I have been doing a lot of exploring. Juice bar is also on Kanchanaphisek road. I havent been there yet but its on my to do list. I have also seen the place with big neon windmill sign on rama 2. Rama 2 has a couple of those big places. It looks huge…also on the to do list. I have no idea where this millionaire pub is. I was told that palladium closed, I cannot confirm that but if someone has been there recently please pass the info. I pass outside pretty often and actually I dont remember seeing the lights anymore. I also pass outside speed pub very often but to me it is just one more big thai pub. There are more of those along phetkasem outbound, so whats the special thing about it?
I am also intrigued about this place on nearby soi 41. I guess we should not call it exactly soi 41 because from your description it seems like the place is located on the even number of the road. You mentioned many times the word pick up place. I am guessing that you mean normal girls rather than working girls. If you mean normal girls, are you able to score from the first night or you just collect phone numbers and take them to several dates?
I have never seen this green building nearby siam either. I appreciate your info but do you remember the soi number? There must be a place near siam university to pick up nice university students. Any info from anyone?
There are tons of karaokes etc outbound phetkasem past the soi phutammonton soi 4…and there are tons of excellent short time hotels as well

George,
“There are tons of karaokes etc outbound phetkasem past the soi phutammonton soi 4″ –> where is that exactly? petchkasem 4 or somewhere else?
The big neon windmill is not really a place to go without girls IMO. It’s like a huge dinner, beer place with thai shows ( dancing, ladyboys cracking jokes ect… ) I’ve been there only once so it might changes depending on the night. The locally brewed beer is pretty nice. Of course it’s always possible to score with a bit of luck.
millionaire pub : from what i can recall from the whisky blur it’s on Kanchanapisek too but on the other side ( mall side of petchkasem )
The night speed pub was very popular with the ladies living in my old building so maybe i’m biased. It’s a bit more than a pub though.
The green place sorry no soi number, but if you keep looking left on your way to bangkok on petchkasem you should spot it.
Yeah by pick up place I mean places where local girls go for fun and adventure. It really depends on the night and the girl, but it’s not hard at all to get action there. Local girls aren’t so blase by foreigners usually. After it’s either a direct shag or number collecting: depends on the level of alcohol, your pickup skills, the girl’s friends ect…
For the soi 41 place( it’s not soi 41 it was just an estimate based on memory ) it’s easy to find : from the mall, turn left at the crossroad after tesco (the big crossroad) drive a bit and it’s on your left. A redish building. It’s not visible from petchkasem.
But I really want to find that’s place full of bars and disco. It’s a medium street, parallel to rama 2.
here’s the secret plan:
—–1111————————–
HERE! unknow road
- -1111—————————
[ ]
———————————-
———————————-
33
33 : the holland beer windmill place
111 : the multiple karaoke, bars and disco place
BTW George if it’s your real name, i might know you. I’m french <– that’s a clue

In Osaka head to Tobita for P4P. Five or six streets of traditional houses of pleasure where a girl sits in the entrance of each establishment. 40% of girls are ‘farang’ friendly. Prices are expensive US$110 for 15 minutes but girls are knockouts. Enjoy.

To Louk: I have been exploring choaroen sanitwong which for people who dont know is the extension of rachadaphisek and I agree with you that it has many interesting places. Let me know when you wanna get together. aaahhh…so many places so little time!
To RRR I did not mean phetkasem soi 4 but rather phetkasem past phutamonton sai 4 (or sai sii in Thai). Have a look at a map past the Mall Bangkhae you will start seeing the phutammonton sai 1, 2 ,3, 4 etc. The sai 4 is the road where Mahidol university is located. Sai 4 has already a few karaokes but if you stay in phetkasem and you keep driving past sai 4 you will see lots of places, karaokes, a few discos and some excellent short time hotels. Maybe I didnt explain well but this area is quite far from Bangkok, you must have a car, I have not seen any regular buses going that way. Its not an area where girls are necessarily more beautiful but rather an area where they see very very few foreigners so you get immediate attention.

George: I see the area you are talking about, quite far indeed but I think the bus 154 goes there, long trip i know.
Never been around so yeah would be nice to try, are we talking about standard pricing or something more friendly?
Ok just need to find a good map, if i can locate the holland beer place i can find the other one.
Oh and i know you, greek right?
the world is small.

french speaking greek ? did you by any chance missed the bus from koh samet to bangkok some month ago and took a taxi back to bangkok with a french guy and his gf ? if yes, bangkok is really a small village ^^’

RRR do we also work in the same place? hehe
If yes why didnt you come to talk to me today?
By the way today I also located your reddish pub near tesco. It took some driving but not so much, your directions were good. I didnt go in, I was too tired and I dont like to go to thai pubs alone.
I dont know what you refer to when you talk about standard pricing but if standard pricing is sukumvit pricing that yes it is way cheaper. For example big heinekens go for 80-90B. Scotch is also cheaper though I usually dont drink much as I am alone.

Well Sideshow, i was reading about how you were having bun sourcing issues and I had my first mango burger there yesterday, and the buns were bloody nice, the whole burger was very tasty!
So well done on that!!!
Now I did a crawl thru cowboy last night and I dont know if it was just the frame of mind I was in or what, but there wasnt one girl the whole night that I would bother to give some good Aussie seed to!
I popped in to RH(see im learning!) and I have to agree with the tele tubby thoughts,
I was drinking Vodka and Oj at all the places and they were all 140b, althogh Apache was 120,and In my opion they were the most friendly too.
The normal good perve at Baccara was pretty crap and the girls were just jiggling and not really smiling a lot.
Now I dont know if before I went out I wrote “fuck off dont bother me” in my forehead but the girls wernt in a overly friendly mood but I spose that could have been One of those nights.
Now I know the regulars proberly know this but I found a short cut from Soi 6 straight thru to Soi 8 it comes out right at Lolitas haha wow,, what a coinckydink. So if you didnt know, just keep going straight at soi 6 past the Sofitel(wave to me lol)and next you know there is a girl on her knees in front of you!!

a - bread sourcing issues were for the mango mcmuffin - but thanks for trying the burger.
I think all the go-go are kind of lame at the moment but not sure why.
I think u may be the millionth person to discover the shortcut.
I used to live on soi 8 and would go for bread whenever I needed to get out of the apartment. Thank god 7/11 is so close to Lolitas.

RRR, George, SSB….
I,m up for a exploration. George you know my party schedule. Just let me know. I talked to my brother in law today and he told me he would find the green building for us. He is a amature spelunker like myself. He has also told me about two places behind The Mall but I haven’t seen them yet. I like the idea of a gps but I find it hard to locate in Thailand because of the addressing system they use. I agree with you guys also about going further out past Bangkhea mall. I went to the alligator/elephant show and I saw a few places that were really cool looking. Again, car is almost essential out that way. I am a bus rider myself. All the places I know can be reached from a bus stop.
About the Siam Un. area….I have been told and again, my brother in law confirms the rumor about an establishment nearby that offers theraputic services for the body. The problem is it has to be very descrete or the girls can be dismissed from the university if they are found to be in the business. (Only in Thailand) Hince, easier to find them away from the area they live and study in.
Look forward to hearing more about the outing……

This thread started with such great RH gossip/info that I was hoping it would go on and on! T & A, ha that is funny, definitely beefed up after their “university” stint. K or G depending on your spelling is almost always subdued and not really talkative, ask WW (from his website), but a spinner and fun to watch. But surely there is more to talk about? Or some info? Who is the really old mamasan that walks through occasionally - a non-waitress from yesteryear, or an owner? What about the guys that hang out in front of the bar - there is one old dude who acts like he’s the boss, is he? The DJ has a girlfriend in the bar, which girl? I’ve pretty much figured out which server girls have girlfriend server girls… And were the now-defunct (?) dance contests rigged? Well, okay, okay, this isn’t an RH thread, but it would be interesting to see a discussion somewhere, given that it is widely touted (or was until we found the beef) as one of the best gogos on Cowboy!

powers - she is just the really old mamasan
the owners is a woman but I am sure there are thai guys involved since she is heavily police connected
all djs have a gf in the bar
usually some server girl in every bar has a gf that is either a server or a dancer. quite common
I think the dance contests were rigged and that cheesy thing they do where the mamasan pretends to tip the girls is money from the bar. I think they even hand it back.
what else is there to say about the place? until they slim up some more I don’t see myself going back for a while.
given this I think it has slipped a few pegs in my book!

I walked past THE STRIP in Patpong on Friday night, and sure enough, the irritating mamasan and several girls were out front being annoying to passing foot traffic. I’d never seen this before at the Strip. Business must’ve been suffering.
I wonder if being annoying really is good for business…?
