Big Mango Bar Grand Opening

firework1.jpg

Of course there will be much talk about the significance of this date but honestly it has nothing to do with the Independence of America or all the celebrations that the 4th of July entails.

It is really just the first Friday that made sense since this coming Friday was too early. So after we sat down and tried to figure out a date it became clear that the 4th of July made the most sense.

The blogosphere will be awash in heated discussions somehow relating this date to America and so on but that is just not the case.

So to make sure no one thinks this is about the 4 of July I encourage you all to study the diagram above since I have always wondered how fireworks work.

For the Grand Opening:

  • Happy Hour all day and all night
  • After 6pm there will be some free food
  • We will make the rounds with free Mango Shots as needed

Stay tuned for more details, still firming them up, but we just want to make sure you reserve the day given there might be some competition for your time.

Desperately disappointing news since I’ll be half a country away on that date. I’ll be in Bangkok a week later, so save a mango shot and a small bag of chips for me.

Congratulation on setting a date. I trust the bar will be decorated in red, white and blue to celebrate it’s Thai heritage, and bottle rockets on Soi Mango will be the order of the evening.

    Have fun fellas!

I would have been arriving that day but as I started work late due to contracting mumps on my last trip it will now be the following week.

Can I expect a free pint??

    I’ll be landing “I-want-some-poon” at 8:50 tonight.

I’ll be sure to stop by to check the new digs out.

@DB: We booted your limey asses out. It had nothing to do with timber!

I hope to stop over in BKK for a few days in August so will be sure to drop in and harass some of the regular posters.

YP - I’ll bring a bottle of aussie wine just for you since you hate it with such a passion.

Smitty & Pmmp wish I could be there please take lots of pics for those of us who can’t make it on the 4th.

prp - i got them from u and that caused the bar to open 2 days late. Will get u a total later of lost revenue but I think it is more than a beer.

3amigos - providing you share some wine with us then I see no corkage charges in your future.

jai - I will bring the marshmellows if we can find any.

Smitty- If that is the case I must have had a new strain previously unknown to medical science ,one that lies dormant until infecting someone else.

    Please accept my sincere apologies..

prp - not sure what those desert voodoo docs told u but the good docs over near soi towel head said that you are contagious prior to having physical signs of it. If I remember we only connected once one that trip and it was over a shared dinner. I think we both got it from the same place but I am happy to let u think u gave it to me though.

Hmm, seeing as my symptoms did not show until 3 days after you, I would say you were the carrier . Unless it was my superior English immune system!!. However I shall bear no grudge.

See you in a couple of weeks.

Can the free food include vegemite sandwiches? Pleaseeee. If you can’t find any, my fellow musketeer, Joe, has some he can deliver at no charge, and he will make them. I’m sure it will attract a much higher class of free lancer.

Have you made a small rail for that smoking area upstairs ? I would imagine it would be easy to take a dive to the ground floor if you had the wobbly boots on.

tried an ice cold nip of the mango absolut vodka last night ( changi duty free promo stand ), it was pleasant but I thought it had more of a passionfruit aftertaste.

Darn it, I be 8th of July in Bangkok. Well, gotta come by to the fresh new outlet!!!

I liked Nid at cashregister so much as she always remembered my name. She seemed to be cool gal.

I liked to have every time I visited burger and couple of Beer Laos and soak up the feeling before heading to Soy Cowboy (NEP sucks in girl entertainment :))

Hmm, but dang it, I gotta meet a friend on 8th and take her out for “thank you” dinner for all the help she has done for me. She is the reason I am flying over. And no, never slept with her or will…:D
