Seems there was a small fire in the office of Mandarin go-go last night. I saw the smoky building today from the outside but hard to tell what happened. Rumor was they were lighting some candles to curse the success of the Rainbow bars and something got out of hand. I heard there was some chaos for a bit in the Plaza - anyone care to share? It has been talked about here before but there is always a worry of something happening in the plaza and how people would get out safely. It is good to know nothing major happened.

I felt all professional and all that.Even sprayed some deodorant on my dreads for good measure. So there we were waiting by the elevator banks and about 100 office girls go streaming by. What is up with Thai people and their inability to show up for meetings with Farangs on time? So we have a meeting with some possible staff for the new mango and about 10 minutes before the meeting he rings to say he is late and possibly cannot make it and wants to re-schedule. We say don’t bother. Give me a break. Then I am suppose to meet another vendor today, someone we are paying money to, at 11. Come 12 and no one and no call. I call him and he is like u yeah - I am late. I say don’t bother and re-schedule. He was put out of course because he wanted to pick up some cash but not my problem. Do they do this to each other or is this another way of taking the piss out of Farangs?

Last tidbit. Setting up some stuff for another venture on Alibaba. Faxed all the stuff to the sales rep in China. She calls back expressing some difficulty in understanding the official company documents. I was trying to understand why. She said they are all in Thai. I said yes - it is a Thai company. Go figure. Fear the rise of China.
DOnt buy lady drinks is the answer. it is the biggest con going. They are not hostess clubs. They are brothels. See what you want and take it. No chit chat.
- the get up and dance thing is what kills it really. So you basically paying to speak to them for a couple of songs before they pole it again - the polling seems to be the reset for a drink. Where they free to go collect a drink elsewhere. So you paying an incredible amount for a short ridiculous chat - normally the form of an interview where they are trying to “profile” you. Holiday? Can you speak thai? Where you stay? How many time you been thailand? etc. all these are tedious, seeking questions with “right” and “wrong” answers. Why reduce yourself to this? Just buy the tart or not.

do not- I would rate myself a fairly experienced go-goer. She did not leave to go back to the pole but to go sit with another guy. that is very different. I usually dont go on and look and buy. not my scene. I usually say hi. make sure I know what I am dealing with. make sure they don’t live near me or my girl. TIP: If you are in the plaza and a fire breaks out don’t run to the first floor. Take the second floor over to the old Mango Bar location. You can climb around the gate, follow the balconies along the bar, jump onto Lucky Lukes and then the Exchange Money place’s roof, and then climb down there onto soi 4. If soi 4 is a mess you can continue along a bit on the roof along soi 4 and then jump down. Not that I’ve thought about this or anything.
do not: as long as they return from being on the pole I kinda dig when they get back up there after having a drink. Gives me a break from the chatter and I get to see her wiggle it for me. To each his own I guess.

Rome is awesome. I watched all 22 (or 24?) episodes in 3 days. It is addictive. Kind of funny, I recommended it to a TG to ‘understand farangs history’. Still wondering what she will make of that. I mean, Egypt, Rome, Octavian, Caesar, this is heady stuff esp for someone with no exposure to Western culture (other than fashion & trash).

I think re: the drink thing. Problems come from the ambiguity about what you are buying. You aren’t actually buying a drink for the thirsty. You are buying a tranche of time. But how much time? I think it would be much better - as they do in the member clubs I understand (never been tho) - where you buy time explicitely.
I had a situation before where I bought a drink and the girl then went off to drink it with another guy. Was back in my nicer days. And i let it happen. Well - now I wouldnt buy the drink in the first place. but if i did - i would get the mamasan to transfer the drink to another girl. if she didnt - would just walk out i think. if i had to fight my way out, so be it. I feel for you smitty because it is infuriating. Its this kind of thing i wont even put myself on the line for anymore. if you buy enough drinks in the bars - this kinda thing will happen sometimes. Ive never had a problem collecting girls numbers in gogos, sometimes they brazenly punch it in your fone, others they tap it in under the table, and ive been slipped bits of paper with it on aswell, so theres always a way.
But a bit of tact is needed.
I was in Samui and bought a smoker (not the 20 a day type) a drink with the view to getting digits and hooking up later on.
After 1 sip she said ‘i go see my friend’ and pointed to some 18stone guy in an hawaiin shirt (1.who buys that shit? - the shirts i mean, and 2. did she honestly want me to believe they are friends - what do they possibly do? share makeup tips and watch girly movies?) - i told her in thai that its bollocks and that im not a dumb-cunt tourist she can mug-over. Here are a few suggestions on what to do when a bar girl does a “turn and burn” on your lady-drink:
1. Don’t pay for the drink after she’s left you…this seems to be the general consensus here in the comments and the most logical approach. If there’s protest, offer to the let the new customer (who took your ho) pay for the drink…then immediately leave before the police show up.
2. Once your girl has left you for the next dick-swinging bar patron, take your complaint to the mama-san, papa-san, or (in the event of ladyboy management) the “your guess is as good as mine”-san. At that point, they might actually get on the girl’s ass or just roll their eyes as you.
3. Once your promising bar girl gets up and says, “Tank you, I go wit fend now,” you say, “No problem.” You then grab her drink out of her hand, throw the contents of the glass over your shoulder, hand her the empty glass back and say, “Have a good evening” while presenting her with the one-finger salute.
4. Let her go with the customer and kindly pay for the drink. You then come back the next night, take her home, revenge grudge-fuck the shit out of her and violate that poonani in even way known to man. Do this in such a way that she walks funny and remind her that it was done because she fucked you on the drink the night before.

Having just returned from Mission Control £10,000 lighter over 6 months, how apt would it be to be number 10,000. Odds are low, similar to being nothing but a number in a go-go. I always get the feeling we should wear the numbers. Kinda like a deli in a supermarket!!!!! Pick the number and wait for the call….. as for lady drinks. If I had shares for every lady drink I’ve ever bought, I’d be on the board at Boon Rawd. I’m not. There’s only one sure thing…. and that comes after the barfine!

Following on from the Central World comment, fuck knows why but i ended up at the California WOW gym at Esplanade this morning at 615am pumping some iron. Come 815 i found myself outside during the morning rush hour ordering fried chicken at Thailand CUltural Centre MRT agasp at the stunners rolling on by.

If you are that nice polite guy who’s straight with them you’d be surprised how many of them don’t accept money from you. About 20% of them refuse my money on the first time. Most of refuse after the first couple of times and the remaining 20% always want money. I not super handsome. I think am average but I am young, dress smart and nice to the girls though.

Take your pick.
You could always give yourself a bar name that you use in bars so you reduce your chances of at least the first possibility on the list.
As for girlie drinks, the rule is they must spend a minimum 15 seconds with you after you buy it for them or finish the drink before shoving off, whichever comes first. Nuff said.

Well I would never steal it Cheapolay, but it is all a big game and I there are stakes involved. If they want to give it for free I do try to explain that I will take another girl and it would be better if they took some money but then they get angry. I just go with the flow and always be polite. I even stuffed it in their bags a couple of times and then they ring up to ask why I did that. I’m pretty open about everything an hardly ever lie to them. I have been through about 20+ in my favorite bar and only had one problem, I had to turn the aircon down to get her to leave in the end (Luckily some of the other girls told her to get fucked and leave me alone).
I won’t be walking down “one of those streets” with a girl that I’ve fallen in love with, but I have crossed passed with other girls before and they normally give me a wink and are pretty good about it. Although point taken I will bear that what you said in mind.

is your research saying that the transaction is between related parties? If it is between related parties the deal is not at arms length. It’s not a fair deal to outsiders looking in. The seller is basically transferring wealth to the buyer - income.
Not familiar with the Thailand IRD rulings, but in the States, the loss incurred by the seller would not be recognized if between related parties.
It also sounds like the transaction is occurring between entities not located in Thailand (”overseas”). If all parties are outside Thailand, why is the revenue department involved?
There is no mention of the liabilities. Would have to assume the liabilities have already been factored into the market value.
The advisor’s need to consider taxes prior to signing off on this deal.

YR - Now I am questioning your better judgment to a higher degree. Way back when I slept with 2 or 3 girls from the same g-bar, and paid them, it was already enough to start some cat fights when I showed up. But maybe you like that kind of mellow drama.
I always interpret being “polite” to the girls involving spending some time hanging around with them in their daily lives after hours. There were close to a dozen topics covered in the post above, and nearly 40 comments zeroed in on three or four sentences about a girl doing a runner on a coke. 20% of those comments are from a single source.
I don’t think smitty is the one who is boring the shit out of people here.
Since The Artist Formerly Known As Cheapolay wrote EIGHT comments about those four gogo-101 sentences, I can only assume that he’s trying to become #10,0000, since he essentially spent the entire time expanding on themes that he continually tells us are boring him.

j - I think there really is no difference between service in the go-gos between onecs that are farang owned versus Thai. The day to day managers and mamasans are always Thai.

I’m always puzzled when I hear these guys who claim that they bang bar girls for free.
I had my fair share of bar girls and this never happened to me. Frankly speaking, I never tried. I often try to discuss the price, but still, for me, in this kind of places, there is a price.
I can understand that some guys are super handsome or super talkative, but still i don’t get it:
- why would she do it for free when she can once in a while do it with someone she likes but still make money?
- why would the guy try to pick up for free a girl who tries to make a living with that? Trying to get the best price is a fair deal, but not paying sounds like a rip off for her, no?

Suk Psycho: There are so many different circumstances that arise when you live here for instance where the free thing does happen. I was just discussing this with a friend yesterday who’s been here five years and speaks fluent Thai. He is late 40’s and average looking and gets freebie offers all the time. He’s one of these guys that like to get “street level” with the girls drinking cheap Thai booze with them til the wee hours. Anyway, even though he gets the free offers he always pays them something. He’s learned that it’s better to pay otherwise it may come back to bite you where they use it against you, guilt, want to be your girlfriend, etc.
I have also come to this conclusion and always insist on giving them something and if they don’t want it I say “it’s for shopping” in which case they always take it.
The freebies are very real and are not always about looks, although the girls do get horny and get on the prowl for young farang meat.

I think when u live here smart girls will stop treating u like a tourist and see the benefits of a solid, steady customer. I often am told I can call ahead and see the girl before work. Thus getting out of the barfine. Hate those barfines. A couple of girls I know give me the every other time deal. Meaning they don’t charge me every time. Sometimes we just go out and go clubbing but they usually want it at the end of the night. all good stuff.

Smitty - I just want to add that I think you are really doing a great job with this forum. I mean it. There are a few good writers on here which can be fun to read for their literary eloquence (On Nutter is one of them). There is of course a fair share of mundane content and that is to be expected with any collective community of thoughts. The banter is the part that keeps me and others I think thoroughly entertained though and the personal attacks on this fictional character/persona I have created gives those repressed types an outlet for their frustrations too. It is enough to make one click-on on a regular basis just to see who else has taken another pot-shot at an icon that doesn’t exist beyond their own minds. I hope you find this aspect of it at all as interesting as I do and that it fills a void that is always needed to maintain the virility in online communities like this. But if it adds any stress to your daily life, which I wouldn’t want to be responsible for, I am willing to take a different approach. Peace brother…

As a feather in your cap Smitty, I have never had the patience to read any of the Thai forums before on the internet over the years. Someone mentioned Jack Dawson and the name rings a bell. Before the birth of blogs and forums there was something called Usenet groups which was launched along with the birth of the internet for the masses and I think he was what was known as a “flamer” at the time and took a lot of heat. Interesting to know he still is lurking. Those were the days of soc.culture.thai I think it was and it still even around today. They even have archives of these groups going back 20 years. But even then I could not get myself to read those dribbles with any regularity.
Then came the birth of graphical web based forums on the net and emerged things like Stickthis, Stickthat, Thaivisathis, Mangothat, and the list goes on. All the same annoying rhetoric as Usenet groups, but with a theme and a moderator which an uncontrollable public domain like the Usenet groups didn’t have. Maybe the public domain thing was more pure to form though. No boundaries. No rules. No Moderators. Just pure freedom of speech. Something you don’t even have the luxury of in America anymore.
But what this group has above all others I have seen so far is a certain innocence and purity to it, probably because of the newbie element of many of the site’s visitors with only really a few show-offs like myself who like to stir the cauldron when offering some of their been-there-done-that insight. There are others like me, but I will leave their names out since they really think their peanut-gallery 2 satang views and repeated personal attacks are of some importance or relevance to anything.
As for name calling, I think I will simply call myself CheepCreap from now on. It pretty much says it all and if the shoe fits…

I never try to get a girl for free and and have never taken a girl LT. I have never had a one for one offer like Smitty either. The smart ones know that if they ask you for money the first time then there is no real chance of them getting a bigger prize. If you get serious with one for whatever reason it’s always in the back of your head that you paid her the first time. Some of these girls are smart and think about this. If the girl has never taken money off you and you start to get comfortable with her it makes a big difference. Normally when you introduce your new girlfriend to someone they ask “how did you meet?”. No ones gonna like saying I gave her 2000 baht. I read somewhere that “A girl who doesn’t want any money wants all you money”
I guess some of the girls actually like us and some are playing a game. Even if they never take money and clean your room, cook for you, etc there probably at one end of the scale. Either they really like you or there trying to get everything from you. I mentioned it before they have an expression for this “Tam pua wang phon bra(k) ought” It means “Follow for Hope return” directly translated but it actually means they will do anything to get everything from you. It’s a very bad expression and likely to get you slapped. I guess are softer version is “She’s feather her nest”
I have a lot of ST that normally turn into long times and I tell them I only wanted short time and it’s up to them. I can’t count how many LTs I’ve got because it started to rain.
Out of interest I ask a lot of girls how many bad customers they get and most of them said 80%. Guys who are unclean, rude, and near raping them. I guess most of us here aren’t that type of guy. It’s all something to think about right!

The Thai expression you gave literally means in ENglish “Do For Hope Benefit”. It is not a very strong expression in Thai. It simply means that someone is doing somehting for the benefits they will get from a situation rather than becuase they really want to do the task. Someone may or may not get upset from hearing these words. It depends on the situation.
