Yo Matt,
I actually think you work to create a Top 100 list of Thailand blogs is pretty cool. Someone should do it since God knows how would we digest our online world without lists, rankings and someone sorting through all the madness for us.
You have started with a basis for rankings. Technorati, Alexa and Google Page Rank - however you are only using 2 of these 3 and then adding voting. Not sure if I have missed something or not. Feel free to correct me though. I am not ranting here - just stating my case. There is controversy surrounding any and all of these methods but it is a decent place to start. I will give you that.
I also agree with the sites you have left off given they are not quite blogs and hard to be treated as such. I am sure there are some tweener examples but over time this will sort itself out. You make it simple enough for people to add their blog so I don’t think this is a big issue.
My only suggestion is this. Remove your site from the list to make yourself look more objective. I know you can point to other Top 100 sites that include themselves but I think this is silly. Given that your usage of things like Technorati and Page Rank take into account links into a site - the more sites that link to your site then the better your own ranking will be over time.
My suggestion then is to remove your site from the list or host the Top 100 list on a separate site even if it includes http://whatismatt.com/ . Then you can call for all the links you want to the list and manage the list more objectively since I assume this will all evolve over time.
Cheers

Can someone remind me why we care about this website? Is it doing harm? Why does it deserve a letter?

c - it is pretty simple. It has already been talked about a bunch in previous posts and I figure this is the easiest way for me to state my opinion on the matter. In a public post.
I thought my post was pretty clear - is it not?
I am stating for the record that if Matt wants this list to stick and be useful he should remove his site from it.
That’s all.

Eh up,
I can’t use Alexa until I upgrade my hosting because the version of PHP I’m running won’t allow me to grab the Alexa data. I will add Alexa once I’ve moved my hosting package.
If this is the general consensus then I don’t have a problem with it. My position in the top 100 is of little importance to me.
I won’t be putting the top 100 on a separate site and domain, but taking my blog off the list isn’t a big deal. I’ll have a think about this anyway. I’m at work now.
Cheers.

matt - I am clear on the alexa issue. I used to think Alexa was way flawed given the toolbar usage but the new rework of Alexa appears to have done away with that. So I think adding it would be worthwhile. All in good time.
If your position on the list is not important than removing yourself is no big deal and gives u a much stronger footing for running and managing the list.
Frankly I am not concerned about our position on the list either but if the community is to get behind this or reference it - then I am just stating how I feel about it as a member of that community.

Sure. And yeah, the new Alexa algorithm makes the data much more useful than it was before.
Cheers for the feedback.

alexa is a web search engine and also a rating service for how popular a site is. Some people swear by it and others loathe it. Welcome to the net boys.
