Songkran violence…

Anyone catch this video on Pattaya Daily News?

Insane. The dude with the huge machete is a treat. I am sure this will just fan the flames calling for the no-drinking ban during holidays. Of course tourists will feel the brunt of this but it appears the locals are the ones who need to control their drinking in this instance.

“…both Thai and foreigner revelers joining in the fun…”

With its standard nod to the local version of political rectitude, the press here invariably refers to the marauding drunks and hooligans to whom the streets are surrendered on Songkran as ‘revelers,’ which is a little like referring to Hamas as ‘the opposition party.’ To do that with a straight face, you’ve got to be related to Jimmy Carter.

Just look at the ‘revelers’ in this video. They put you in mind of a lost tribe of New Guinea bushmen entirely disconnected from the twenty-first century (or, for that matter, the twentieth century). Good Lord. What an ugly bunch of vile, repellent savages.

This reminds me of the redneck hillbillies that fight int he infield at the Kentucky Derby. One in the same. God I hate them.

Last year by Nana Plaza there was an even more savage fight that broke out between the Thai Motorci guys on the corner of Suk and Soi 4 and some other Thai guys that pissed them off. We had a birds-eye view to the whole thing but it was unfortunately too dark for video. It was nasty as bottles flew and there was a pretty nasty group beating much like the one in this video. The motorci guys then got a hold of one of the enemy motorbikes and pounded it to the ground right on soi 4. Lovely stuff.

    Songkran : It’s a fu*king nightmare!!

I am surprised that there are not more violent incidents during the time of Songkran particularly around the farang populated areas of Bangkok.
Admittedly, the Pattaya story suggests more of a local ‘turf’ dispute but I will never again want to visit Bangkok during Songkran.
Whilst other festivals retain some sort of link to the principles behind them (i.e. Loy Kratong),the childish free-for-all conducted by
idiotic farang’s with little or no idea about Songkran is beyond me.

The next time some cu*t comes towards me with a pressurised water gun and associated powder which completely fu*ks the clothes you are wearing will get my size 12 rammed down thier throat!!

Has anyone else had the unfortunate experience of hypothermia whilst sitting in a go-go soaked from the road-side drenching under the air-con in these places??

Happy fuc*king Songkran to you all!!

Don’t you just love it, when you are sitting at a bar at night, and they throw a bucket of icewater over your back.
