Rising from the Ashes

Yo folks. pmmp has put up this cool page over on the bigmangobar.com site to keep people up to date on the construction. Keep in mind that there won’t be much progress over Song Kran - just deal with it.

As stated we are shooting for being able to produce some form of a cold beverage by June 1.

    Well now, Mr. pmmp,

“…it’s only a 30 second walk to the Guess Bar.”

And you’ve taken that stroll yourself…uh, how many times, more or less?

Okay, it was just for the quality pool table they have there. Right. Gotcha.

GREAT … our returning group will be there to the latter part of May. We’re crossing our fingers that you open earlier then anticipated. BUT, you can bet we’ll be there later in the year if we miss the opening. Congrads.

Wow. I just realized that 1 June is my last night in town before I leave to go to Chiang Rai for six weeks. Great timing boys.

Don’t fuck up and miss the deadline or you won’t be able to open until I get back in mid-July.

Do I tell too much if I say that the new BM is somewhere down Soi 4? A former BM-girl told me so. Or was that a proposition for a short-time hotel? My Thai really needs improvement :D

Good luck for you guys, I will drop by on my next visit for sure.

Only a thirty second walk TO the Guess Bar, or a two-minute sphincter-crimping stagger FROM the Guess Bar. I’m guessing, of course. The great thing about ladyboys (no, wait …) is that they’re totally crap at pool. If a ladyboy beats you at pool, you ARE a ladyboy.
The Thai bargirl’s prowess with the cue, however, is one of life’s mysteries. Any 35 kilo piece of barnyard-voiced Burinam cock candy can play pool better than you, often with that insolent single-handed cue poke because they’re too fucking lazy to reach for the bridge, AND while they’re thinking about the next bowl of “nuden” AND taking a call from Kev in Gerrard’s Cross who wants to know what all the male laughter’s about if she’s at her sister’s. There’s no justice or fairness in bargirl society. I play a dignified, measured game, squinting unattractively through my bifocals, and yet I can only get baize satisfaction with some hair-stroking harpie in eight inch stilettoes who can barely straighten up after taking a swivel-eyed screw shot due to silicon inertia.

Psychic Hint: when eyeing up any tinsel-haired Thai totty, picture a cartoon thinks bubble above her head with a steaming bowl of noodles in it, because that’s what she’s thinking about when she’s smiling encouragingly at you. Then try it while you’re delivering your urgent consignment of man-meat to her basement storm-flaps for an accurate and dispiriting insight into BG priorities. Nuden! Yum!

Pants Elk that was a good mental picture you gave on that last post, next time playing pool i am gonna start laughing for no F$#king reason and everyone will start thinking im a psycho…for me the best part of playing pool with them is the wonderful posture they tend to have while shooting….

    Thanks buddy….
    Cheers

Hey Jboy, anybody who doesn’t think ladyboys are the funniest thing since funny was invented is missing the point. As they invariably do themselves while “lining up” that crucial shot, with a curious warped DNA helix wrist action that’s more likely to shred cloth than sink resin. The TV sports channels are missing out on a massive unexplored minority sport here - I can see the slo-mo replays, the raised buttcheeks, the whites of the eyes under the swinging hair, and those magnificent chest-zeppelins cresting the cushion … what better couch-potato sport than pro-celebrity ladyboy pool?

So what’s the status now, are you on track? “By the 1st June” infers that it may happen before then?
The main reason I ask is (naturally) a purely selfish one as I fly back to the UK on 31st May and would have enjoyed a scoop or two ;?

We are looking at June 1st still as some kind of opening. Spyker, just not going to be possible before then I’m afraid but if your in the neighborhood on the 31st, peep in, we might just be testing the tap systems. :)

Announcement coming in about a week…

Maybe you could send a mail to that American Extreme makeover Show for a helping hand. We would all be in tears seeing it completed, whooping and a hollering at where we gonna sit, how ’s way na’, the pool table looks, blah blah blah! Maybe if you employ the girls, they could give a dig out with the paint brushes.
I don’t mind popping over to give you a hand to hit the deadline. Hell, I will even sleep on the floor, do 12hours work a day. But please fly me over on Business Class.

soi 4 - small soi across from the 7/11 that sits under sin bar

down the soi and look left - the only spot that would like a bar.

That’s the soi that I stay at!
Is the little old lady still have the little garden that she tends to in the front yard?
And the girls that look bored at the massage parlor?
And the mercedes still parks at the very end of the soi?
And the coconut ice cream guy rides up on his bike in the afternoon so I can buy cold treats for the receptionist?
And just a little closer to soi Nana is a little market with a a couple tables where you can get a bite to eat? The Thai neighborhood regulars always sit there. And my Thai girl would buy soda water at the tiny market to rinse with after a blow job….
    It was always so peaceful.

You guys will probably use my hotel for short-time use….
I wonder if the prices are now going up because of Big Mango is now in the neighborhood?

    Damn, there goes the neighborhood!!!
I know just where it is.

art - the little old lady is next door to us. We chat with her regularly now.

Not sure what hotel u stay at but there is a new hotel being built right across from us so suddenly lots of development going on. Big mango obviously setting the pace.

I use to wai and say swadeekup to the little old lady, because she was older and wiser than I, to the approval of my Thai girl who would respond with “Now you know how to be Thai.”

Boys, I know there is a small green sign that say’s “Scott St.” on it on the corner.

I figure you ought to invest in a blue streetsign in Thai and English that looks genuine, and put it up on the corner saying Soi Mango… make it easier to find the place for people going for the first time.

ww - if only it were that simple. We are the new kids on the block so we have to tread lightly. Sounds like a good idea but would probably piss the other folks on the soi off. We are talking to people about putting a big sign so people on soi 4 can see it. the street sign is a GREAT idea but not sure yet how we can pull it off.

If they say no to the sign, burn there feckin’ bar down in the dark of night. Im sure then they’d have no objection then. You can use the charred remains as a landmark for out of towners.

The Scott St. sign is on the wall of the Tavern Bar and it’s there because the owner’s name is Scott. At least that is what the block captain told me.

arrtv: You are sooo spot on. I’ve spent a few days there now and I’ve seen all that you’ve mentioned. The garden lady is our next door neighbor. She has indicated on more than one occasion that she would like a job in the bar.

Hey pmmp, thanks for respecting the old neighborhood.
Its a little community there, a little bit of calm with the
chaos of Soi Nana right around the corner.

(Randy asks for you to say hi to Pim at the White Orchard Inn from Mr. Floyd, the photo guy who did the books on the katoeys and the street food. Nice girl and valuable resource,
    but not for hire.
She does like to go to the movies though.)
