Was out and about in the Ram Inthra area last night and stumbled upon a restaurant/pub I had never been to. I guess it is not much different than your standard outdoor Thai joint with a band. Food was good though, the band was cool and the setting was nice and chill. Saw a lot of lookers as well. They kept showing this video though on a big screen of some hotties doing runway shows in bikinis and some of them getting topless and involving themselves in 2 girl shower shows. Of course I had a hard time eating and chilling since I was more interested in watching the video.
We inquired to our waitress as to what the video was about and it turns out it was from a party they had a few months back. Seems they have these fashion shows every now and then. The girls looked much hotter than the so called Penthouse girls that get promoted at the likes of the various member clubs plus the bikinis and lack of tops made it even more enticing. So word is the next show is April 24th and I just may have to go back and check it out.

An interesting article about the Philippines on Asia Times:
The Philippines, now home to around 85 million people, has become one of the fastest-growing populations in Asia with about 2 million new births each year, many of them in public hospitals so overwhelmed that new mothers are forced to share beds. Meanwhile, the Philippines’ population is projected to expand to as many as 142 million by 2040, by the government’s own estimates, and the rapid arrival of new mouths to feed is straining the country’s creaking infrastructure and choking its efforts to cut poverty.
The forward thinkers in the Department of Education in the Philippines realize that they have a problem. Too many kids and not enough education for the people making all the babies. So they are trying to turn things around but it would seem the Catholic Church, with their choke hold on the place, is going to prevent any meaningful force of change.
Bottom line is the Church will probably win this round and the the baby boom will continue. Given the amount of children, the poverty and the lack of opportunities - my guess is that places like AC and Makati will not only have the demand but it looks like plenty of supply to boot. Back in my home town we all knew that the good little Catholic girls were the first to take of their panties from underneath their school uniforms.
Songkran cometh…

Yeah it’s really a unchristian hold the Catholic Church has. 50-80% of the people I have worked with for the last 5 years are Philippinos. I hear all sort of horry storys abut the church. A lot of kids aren’t allowed into local schools unless they go to church every sunday. I must admit they seem a lot more devoted than the people back home. I don’t really know any people my age who continued to go to church out of there own free will. But my collegues still go when they have a chance.
Smitty are you trying to say “Every cloud has a silver lining”
I’m not sure why I haven’t had that much interest in The Philippines considering the amount of contact I have with there people. I know a lot of funny sayings but can’t speak Tagalog. I always seem to end up in Thailand.
We talked a lot about the changes in Thailand affecting tourism and it is happening. I know I am going to take a more active interest in the Philipines. I really want to check there no where better I should be and given the amount of friends i’ve got there it worth a look. I think I will be trying to spend half my free time there and if the old laziness sets in at least make long visa runs there. I’m sure they will appreciate my money.
I love the challenge of living in Thailand and having to learn the language but it’s is just so much easier to meet a Philippino girl half-way, culturally and linguisitcally. I think this makes relationships (meaningful) easier over there. I think I will try bouncing between the two more. If there’s one thing Phillipino girls understand and do better it’s raunch. Check the difference between a Thai and a Phil gogo bar. Thailand definately has the stronger draw on me and i’ve never really been able to sum it up.

yr - some people live philip. I have spent time in AC and Manila. Manila is like a big capital city with lots of things to do but in my mind no where near the diversity and quality of bkk but this is my opinion. Sure the girls speak English but for me that loses all appeal but I like speaking Thai and I like having to do get along.
For me though I separate out the girls and judge the rest of it. The food, the culture, the entertainment options and the travel options.
Food - Thailand. Both the local and international food.
Culture - Thailand. philip is too americanized and way to catholic.
Entertainment - Thailand but with the crackdown sometimes I wonder if it will stay that way. Since it is also affecting clubs and pubs. I did not enjoy the club scene in philip.
Travel - tie. they both have great places to travel.
kotter - one can hope.
