Poseidon. Again.
So I returned to Poseidon. On my last visit, I got there later than advised, wasn’t made particularly welcome, and wasn’t even slightly impressed. I didn’t even take a girl.
This time, I knew what to expect, and behaved accordingly. Together with a pal, we walked in as if we owned the place, strode over to the elevators, and gave the attendant a nod. Straight up to the models’ lounge. It had taken me almost half an hour to get this far last time round.
We were led to a table with a good view (which didn’t happen last time), ordered some drinks, and took in the view. Some nice-looking girls. A few oddly-familiar Issan faces glanced over from between the rows of stonier-faced pale Bangkok girls.
My pal wanted to investigate the Penthouse girls who are allegedly available here. As many as possible. It didn’t quite work out like that though.
We asked a hovering attendant for “the book”, and she scampered off to retrieve a ring binder full of magazine clippings. Rather like shopping at a Thai boutique, my pal flicked through the book asking “is she here?”, being met time and time again with a grinning “sorry sir no have”.
“What about the Penthouse girls?”
“Yes, many beautiful ladies in photos. Some Penthouse”.
“Which ones?”
“Which ones you like?”
“Which ones are the Penthouse models?”
“Yes, some Penthouse. Which one you like?”
Sigh.
It transpired that precisely one of the girls featured in the book was present in the building. She didn’t look much like her photo. I did enquire about the mystical top floor private clubs, but was met with a blank gaze. Business as usual, I suppose.
I decided to have a hearty meal as we waited for more girls to turn up - the food took an age to arrive, but was pretty good.
By this time though, my pal was raring to go. He called one of the “models” over, and was told that she would cost ฿3,900 for 90 minutes. As, apparently, would all of the other girls in attendance. So I guess we missed all the more expensive Q/S/T-class girls (see here). Or perhaps they were hiding…
My pal had been hoping to spend more money than that. So he picked two. Mixing and matching is no problem, unlike the “choose one, and let her pick the second” policy at the Eden Club.
Well, I wasn’t going to be outdone, so I chose two as well. I thought it would be amusing to pick a (very cute) Issan girl alongside one of the more refined and pale-skinned Bangkok girls. So I did. What can I say? I’m a bad boy, remember…
Unfortunately, the girls don’t particularly get involved with each other. The whole experience is a little muted, in fact. Kissing on the mouth is not permitted, and oral sex is administered with condoms. My pal confirmed that his experience was the same, so it wasn’t just me.
Still, a relaxing bath, some surprisingly good massage, and more to the point two terrific sessions with two very different but beautiful girls made for an enjoyable hour and a half.
In summary, the attention and service were excellent. Okay, so the food was a little slow, but you don’t go there for the food. The girls were very friendly, generally more attractive, and definitely several orders of magnitude more polite than their bargirl cousins. If that’s worth the extra money to you, then go for it.
But be warned that with more “civilised” women comes more civilised sex. I wouldn’t have dared to ask them for the kind of services that the Tulip girls will happily offer without even being asked.
I tipped both girls ฿1,000 each, because if you’re going to frivolously waste money then you may as well do it properly. I’d guess we paid about ฿20,000 between us, including all the food and drinks. But a more sensibly-priced experience can probably be had for about ฿5,000 (plus tips) if you go easy on the drinks, skip the food, and just take one girl.
Or there’s always the fishbowl on the 2nd floor, where prices start at ฿2,500 for two whole hours. We walked past it on the way out though, and I didn’t see anything special. I’d say Bangkok Cosy’s probably better if you want the cheap option…

The Eden Club, whilst not a soapie, will do you a bloodbath for less than half the price. But they won't be pale-skinned classy "models". I think it's one or the other, unless you get exceptionally lucky…

Can someone help me out here? When you have this 90 minute or 2 hour time limit with the massage places, does that mean you can have sex as many times as you can/want and just cut the time in the bath/massage department? Or is there a one pop per girl limit?

@Beast: It's a hacked-up version of The Morning After, with a number of plugins and quite a bit of custom code. Still tweaking it - the fonts are slightly too small in some browsers… Stay tuned.

If you'd rather have a no-holds-barred romp with a couple of Issan spinners on a budget, then it's not.
It's all pretty subjective, really - but then that goes for most of Bangkok. I certainly had a good time, but I could have had four totally depraved (but less attractive) girls at Eden for the same money. Depends what you're into.

I guess they're making enough money from their Asian clientele that they don't feel the need to welcome we farangs, although I must say they were far more accomodating once we started throwing silly money around…

For the penthouse or cute models one should try Amsterdam. For the sheer number of model types you should try Utopia, Tarawadi, Ceaser, Emmanuel all of which have larger selections than poseidon. 99.9% of these pale beauties come from the Chiangmai and Chiangrai provinces of Thailand inspite of few of them claiming to be Bangkok born. Most of these girls are hill tribes, Mons, Karens etc., the offspring of chinese nationalist armies who are still there and a large portion come from the Burmese Shan state who speak the same language as the Thais and therefore quite easy to sneak in to Bkk and of course there are Thais as well. These pale beauties try to avoid farangs as they think the bigger size of the farangs will damage their goods thereby shortening their chance of getting married after earning quite a sum.Most of these girls dream of finding a Jap or Korean husband or be a mia noi for a Bangkok rich guy after working in these soapies.On the contrary Issan brownies are seasoned and conditioned due to repeated pounding by their village ex-boyfriends who are muay thai types.So for the Issan girls the size of farangs is no big deal.I am talking from experience afterall one has to find out for themselves, it just takes some time.

Still only covered three: Annie's, Bangkok Cosy and Poseidon. The soapie experience is pretty much the same wherever you go, so it's all about finding the right girl. Poseidon's Models' Lounge had the best lookers by far, but it's often the case that with beauty comes attitude. It's all about finding the sweet spot between price and quality, in my opinion.
Smitty raves about Victoria on Rama 9, and Amsterdam's supposed to be pretty good too, so I'm going to check those out next. Don't worry, I'll cover them before Christmas…

@ Penfold The soapie at Plaza Entertainment Centre is a great spot to meet lookers. Its a 15 min walk up Soi.3. Coming from corner of Soi.3. and Sukhumvit Road walk up the right hand side of Soi.3. past Grace Hotel etc for 15 more mins , passing over New Petchaburi Road to a T intersection of sorts. If you look to your right at this intersection you will see a high rise with the 'Plaza Entertainment' sign at the top. Actually you will see this sign on the high rise well before you reach that intersection. Turn right at this intersection head straight towards the Plaza sign , through a car park of sorts. The management pays 'taxi commission' so dont get off at the entrance. Alternatively, take a taxi to Prince Hotel (which is close to the Plaza) , and take a short walk through to the tall Plaza Entertainment building (large sign near top). Thus avoiding a taxi commission (Bt500) being added to the cost of your lady

Plaza is meant for farangs and western asians like the Arabs, so the papasangs will try to overcharge you but the service is not bad. I visited Poseidon quite a few times and happen to know one of the papasans (I always tip him 100/200 Bht.). I must say that each time he manages to arrange some great girl for me who ALSO give Bbj.
One of the less pleasant parts of Poseidon is that non-Thais have to pay a few hundred Bahts more. I am Asian (stationed in Holland however) but pay the same price as farangs do.

Ato - I feel your pain. It is not easy because you have a language barrier. Sometimes you can build some rapport or sexual tension with these “I know I am so hot” types but when you can’t talk to them in their langugae it is very challenging if not impossible. Maybe you could learn how to say “I bet you are lousy in bed” in Thai. Try saying that to them before anything gets started. And see what happens.

A useful tip is to pull the dodgiest-looking sexworker you can find.
