Tucked into a corner on Patpong 2, the Star Of Light bar is not one into which a punter should casually wander. Inside you will find some of the most skilled practitioners of the oral arts in Bangkok, if not Thailand. This is not a bar you visit for a quiet drink.
Unlike Lolita’s, there are no curtains, booths or private rooms. Nor is there a separate, “clean” bar area. Unless you fancy taking your special lady out to the toilet (or paying a barfine to take her to your room), you’ll be indulging - as others do - in the bar itself, out in the open.
This appeals to some more than others, of course. But you didn’t come to Bangkok to be shy, did you? Beer is ฿80 a bottle, and the speciality on offer will cost you ฿700 per lady, on-site. Go on, treat yourself.

An absolute cracker of bar with full sex or blow-jobs in the bar or in the back washroom area. Or you can bar-fine a lady. Most are 18 to 24 years of age. Some are a little older, but most of them are really lovely and genuine people if you treat them right. FS 100 baht in the bar, but outside of the bar, after paying the bar the 400 baht barfine, you negotiate the price of waht you want with the lady for short or long time. Anal is nor catered for in this bar. But they are up for almost anything else. With customers getting blown in close proximity to you,, be care careful not to sdplash anyone accidently.

Having only just ‘discovered’ Star of Light about three months ago, I have to say that there is something intoxicating about getting a blow job in the middle of the bar in front of God and everyone. Patpong, like most tourist areas of Bangkok, is very safe. Never seen any trouble there. Don't go into any of the upstairs bars and you'll be fine. Cheers!

That's what the review pages are for - the general chat pieces tend to tail off after a week or two, but people are always looking for bar information. As long as the reviews are updated with any big changes (which I admit I'm a little sloppy with sometimes), it doesn't matter how old the page is.

@Stevie: It's been generously described as a "cupboard". Bar on one wall with 4 or 5 barstools. Two small sofas with a separating wall face the bar. One bathroom to the side, for the more shy customers. No gogo poles and no gimmicks.
Incidentally, I invented the "Star Of Light Racing Game" not too long ago. You and a buddy wander in, sit cosily side by side on a sofa (for verification purposes), pick a girl, pull your pants down, and the first/last (make sure you both agree on the rules) to finish pays the bill.

Aw, shucks. Patpong is a bitch to map, because of the upstairs/downstairs bars. It was only as I wandered around counting and noting them all that I realised how many I still haven't ventured inside. The map’s not to scale, and I’m sure there are several inaccuracies. Glad it's appreciated though!

Sorry Bad Boy, but the "Star Of Light Racing Game" has been around longer than my 2 decades in Bangkok. I first visited SOL (Star of Love, it was known as then), in 1988 or 1989. The bar had semi-circular holes cut in it in which the customer could sit up against the counter. Draped over his lap was a green curtain and on the other side of the curtain (and therefore underneath the counter) would be the lady of your choice giving you a BJ. My mate and I would play the racing game, but because of the curtain, it became an honour system. Somehow I never lost, which says a lot about my honour.

Incidentally, about the name change. A few years back the authorities went around to every bar and checked that the name on their signs outside matched the name on their registration papers. If not — no business for a month. They're so diligent in this country. LOL.

My map's simplified, and not to scale, but it's good enough to find the bar. Foodland is set a little further back from the road, which may explain the confusion. The Star of Light is behind a row of open-air beer bars at the Surawong end of Patpong 2. The Trade Winds bar, next door, has a new neon sign so it's not too tricky to track down.

I stumbled across SOL yesterday completely by mistake……
i met my GF after she finished university and she said she wanted to play pool so we hit sala daeng……… we headed into patpong and played a few games in one of the pool bars behind the open air ones opposite Super Queen…… after finishing up we decided we'd go and get some food and headed up the narrow soi then onto the main patpong 2…….

There isn't really a bad time to visit Bangkok. October is the end of the rainy season (although we did have floods here in early October last year), so the rain should be calming down at least by then. November is officially the start of tourist season, which may or may not appeal (more girls, but more punters too).
But hey, most gogo bars have a roof, so no problem, right? Haven't heard of any specific mass bargirl exodus in October, but they do like to bugger off when there's an extended holiday, like a long weekend. The only public holiday I'm aware of in October is Chulalongkorn Day on Tuesday 23rd.

It is not for everybody.
Best way to patronize the place is to just go and spend a few hours there, spread out over a few days. You will quickly figure out which of the goddesses there has your preferred technique in fellatio, and you can get their phone numbers. Call them for take-out. They will come to you. Or, find out when they open up the bar. The girls all take turns opening the bar early, one day a week. On her day, come in around 0830, 0900 AM. Bring a couple of coffees, some pastries, and the newspaper. While she putters around cleaning, getting the place ready to open, you can drink your coffee in peace, and read the paper. When she is ready to rock, you can get your mojo on on couch number two, and be her first customer of the day.
