The FARANG Speaks 2 Much

I tried to take a breather but when international friends come to town and they are only in town for a night, even if it is a Monday - I must be polite and show them around otherwise they might get the impression that Bangkok is boring. Please…

Since these were out of towners who may not have been to a Thai member club before I thought we would kick off the night at Forte on RCA just for something different. This is not everyone’s type of place but I like the change of venues, the different types of girls, the overall vibe when the place is pumping with good tunes and the dancing girls in their tiny outfits. Its not a cheap place but fun to visit now and then - especially with guests in town.

After we closed down Forte we headed off to Soi 1 and being a Monday it did not let us down. We are starting to find that Josephines, Soi 1 top floor, is the only real after hours place anymore but seems to only be really good during the week but will keep an eye on it for u all. Either way we stayed at Soi 1 until 5 am and the place was still going strong when we left.

A couple of side notes:

Glow. Across from Narcissus on a side soi off of Sukhumvit Soi 23. I think this place has some potential and need to check in on it more. The night we stopped in we did not get there until 1 and they had shut the main gate but the door was still open and they served us until about 230 - I think. We were raging so I may be light on the details. Also, across the street Paul Oakenfold was spinning and I don’t think any club can really compete with that. Anyway - the club has a great style and layout with an awesome sound system - you can tell someone spent some money on this place and put a lot of thought into the design. Couple this with a great selection of alcohol (tons of quality vodka), some good tunes mixed with a crowd and what you have is a good size midscale club. Hell - they even put speakers in the bathrooms to make sure you don’t miss anything. I will be back to check it out more and see the dancing girls. Love dancing girls.

Soi cowboy is quite the hotbed of after hours activity lately. The go gos are not closing until 2 for the most part but after that the fun spills back into the Soi. There are 2-3 erecta bars everynight and 2 of them aren’t too bad given the pours, the music and the girls. Add to this Penny Black, Old Dutch and what appears to be a new afterhours venue - upstairs at Suzie Wongs. I have not checked into it but I was told one could move upstairs to drink, watch TV and hang with girls. Innovation in nightlife - thanks Pete. I will let u know what is happening up there soon.

Sidenote continued - education tidbit.

Let’s be real clear on this. When u r sitting at one of the late night erecta bars and one of the ladies is chatting you up it’s not because you look like David Beckham - even if you do. She works for the bar and she is hoping to get some ladydrinks, maybe a barfine and well - you know the rest. Now I am not saying they are being pushy since usually I can sit there without buying any drinks and still have a good time but I don’t mind buying a few drinks for girls if I am having fun since this is good for me and they get paid.

My complaint here is not about the girls but about stupid ass customers. This is for the dude on Soi Cowboy the other night in the suit who was being an obnoxious asshole. If you can’t stand the heat then get out of the kitchen. Meaning if Bangkok and the scene are just too much for you to handle then stop partaking. I am tired of these rude guys who say some of the most vile things to the girls, pick fights with the people sitting next to them and generaly make total fools of themselves.

Here we are sitting around an erecta bar with a couple of guys and one asshole. The asshole is trying to grope every girl but won’t buy any ladydrinks and then wonders why he gets no attention. Then a few of us buy some ladydrinks to make up for this guy’s behavior when he decided to yell at the girls for talking to us and then proceeds to pick a fight with the guy next to him. Fortunately there was enough of us around to give this guy the look and to let him know it was time to go home. I love the scene and I love all the options but I get sick of seeing people who drink too much, stay up too much and take out their lameness on everyone else.
