The FARANG Speaks 2 Much

First let me update everyone on the Nana Plaza closing time. Yes, it’s still 2:00am and appears to be catching on. It’s kind of lame that the lights in the plaza go off around 1:15 but the bars do stay open until 2:00am. Well, most do anyway. The cost to bars is an extra 10,000 baht per month for this luxury so some have not taken this option yet. The Big Mango is still on the fence.

As for the rest of the fun scene after 1:00/2:00am:
- Pennyblack
Located
on the corner of Asok and Soi Cowboy. There is a 2 Pool Table room on
the 3rd floor that stays open until 5:00am or so. It also serves some
pretty good food. The pool equipment is awful but there are some good
games to be had nonetheless. This place holds about forty and is kind
of dated but fun. No entrance fee and drinks aren’t too expensive. Many
of the girls from Soi Cowboy (mostly Long Gun and Rawhide girls since
the owner is the same) hang out here after work. There is even a
barfine for some of them but most are freelancers and not all are
looking to hook up so it may take a bit to find your company for the
night. Music is pop dance music, sound system is terrible.
- Old Dutch
Located
on the corner of Suk Soi 23 and Soi Cowboy. The Old Dutch is a very
popular restaurant around the clock and they have a room upstairs with
pool that goes all night. I haven’t hung out here yet but the owner
reminded me last week that it is also open all night and can be fun so
I thought I would mention it.
- Country Road soi 19
The top floor
2 Pool Table room stays open until 5:00am or so. A fun joint with good
pool matches although the wait is quite long. This place is more about
the after hours Pool then it is about finding ladies or dancing.
However, there is alcohol so anything can happen. There have been times
where it has been lame and other times it was very happening. No cover
and reasonable drink and food prices.
- Sin Club Soi 4 (Roof)
Not
sure I should even mention this club since it opens and then closes
again so often. It’s a decent venue with plenty of party goers but
inconsistent on staying open and they can barely play the music since
they have to be careful about disturbing the neighbors. Joephines on
Soi 1 is a much better option.
- Soi 11
Located on Suk Soi 11 not
far off Sukhumvit. Not sure of the name but it’s a Beer Bar by day and
then then bring the door down and keep it dark after 1:00am. When you
walk by they open the door and then lead you upstairs. There is a 200
baht entrance fee for all and you get a free drink with that. This is a
tiny venue and they pack it in, about thirty people max. This is a
pretty crazy scene. Great hip-hop blasting and usually more women than
men. However, many of the women are the yaa-baa drug crowd so be
careful. Some though are just into the hip-hop. Most are freelancer
working girls. I like to go here with a date/friends and dance to the
wee hours. Warning though, wiggers do hang here and are very obnoxious.
- Sukhumvit
Along
with all the food stalls along Sukhumvit there are many Erect-A-Bar’s
that serve all night. Some of these bars even have mamasans and charge
bar fines. They are there though and can be a fun option.
- Swan2/Dynasty/Woraburi/Nana
On
Suk Soi 4 there are a few hotel bars that stay open pretty late. The
Swan 2 quite a ways down the Soi is probably the most fun. It’s an
outside bar with about 10 seats and a few girls usually. There is  a
bar fine if you want to take one of the girls.

That’s it for now but remember that this is just for the Nana/Asok
area. We will be blogging experiences in other areas such as Ratchada
that are pumping all night.
