Disappointing riverside view, Phnom Penh
And so, time to bring this circuitous tale to a close.
After a night of glorious, uninterrupted sleep (the Vietnamese chick was short-time only, folks), it was time to actually do a little exploring. But not just yet. First, there was an itch which simply had to be scratched.
The Hope and Anchor pub have a sign on the premises which declares that they serve the finest English Breakfast in Phnom Penh. Such claims must be verified. Preferably by me.
It was rather good.

I awoke, and lit up a cigarette. Its flavoursome aroma swiftly infused the room with glee, as wisps of smoke danced around the motes of dust highlighted by the shafts of light peeping through the curtains. I dragged long and hard from the simple yet beautiful roll of leaves and paper, breathing the world’s finest drug into my lungs as I slowly took in the scene - there truly is no better way to start the day.*
As the haze cleared, I noticed Hot Chinese-Khmer Girl getting dressed by the window. Huh. Not the long-time/short-time switcheroo again?
“I have to go home soon”, she said.
“But not that soon, right?”
Grinning, she disrobed and came back to bed. I love it when a plan comes together.

Back in 2006, I visited Phnom Penh for the first time. I wrote a brief summary of the trip a long time later, available here. Having returned to Phnom Penh recently, I’ll try to cover a little more ground this time.

3.] Makati (P.Burgos). Burgos is another spot where many bars relocated after previous purges and it’s pretty much wall to wall gogos and freelancer pickup spots dotted with a few hotels and eateries stretching from Makati Avenue up until the next main junction – where there is now, I can proudly report, a new place offering lady boxing and midget wrestling (I didn’t go in…). Just beyond this junction after Montana and High Heels, you come to a place called Jools next to an English Pub called the Woodmans Head.

I recently spent a week in Manila, where I’d previously worked in 2004 /2005 and visited many times up until Feb 2007. My plan to revisit all my old haunts and sample a few new places were unfortunately & seriously derailed by a couple of things that happened, but I’ll be heading back soonish, so will try to fill the gaps next time.

I went to Pattaya to find out about the different places the Ghost talked about in his recent posts (and because I hadn’t been there for a while!) and specially his Afternoon Delight tours.
I am not too much a fan of guided tours, and the idea of sharing a bus with 49 other mongers, loud, rude and dirty was not really appealing, therefore I didn’t join the tour and went by myself
Having printed the two “Tour Programs”, all I had to do was to follow the instructions. Well, until I reached the places, at least.

Many thanks to Pattaya Ghost for his informative posts about his stalking grounds, especially on the best go-gos and the P4P pricing schemes at various places. It’s been 10 years since I was there and I wasn’t that interested in going back until I read PGs posts. Bangkok is fine, but I’m always interested in any new information about places in Thailand. Thanks to PG I spent 4 days (I was only planning on 3 at the most) checking out go-gos in Pattaya. His recommendations of go-gos and early bird places to go for short time fun were very helpful. Here’s a brief summary of my favorite places as I visited about 30 go-gos over four days (and nights).

editor’s note: This was a comment from this post.
I was in Patong a few days ago and had a good time, and although I found the hoards of massage girls in the streets very annoying one of them amused me as I passed by; “massage sir?” …”mai ao krab”…..”blowjob sir?” ….. You should have seen the look on the faces of the passing package tourists.
The Indian tailors with ludicrous Australian and cockney accents (like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins) are apparently Burmese of Nepali origin. Not that that makes them any less irritating but it does mean that some decent “Indian” food is available quite cheaply.
