Trip report: Manila, The Philippines by K1ndofblue Part 1

I recently spent a week in Manila, where I’d previously worked in 2004 /2005 and visited many times up until Feb 2007. My plan to revisit all my old haunts and sample a few new places were unfortunately & seriously derailed by a couple of things that happened, but I’ll be heading back soonish, so will try to fill the gaps next time.

PRE-NUPS, KWIK NUPS™, STREET-NUPS, HALF-NUPS, and NO-NUPS by The Soi Lawyer

Marriage and Prenuptial Agreements in Thailand

So, you have met that special lady and in the far off distance over the din of tuk-tuk horns and the one millionth replay of “One Night in Bangkok,” you hear what sounds like wedding bells.

You have never been a member of the militant wing of the Men’s Liberation Army, but from time to time you have been seen on the back benches of some of its “strictly political” gatherings. At the same time, you have never been a Knight in Shining Armor, but for you chivalry has yet to die out. So where does this leave you? You are thinking of marriage, but the horror stories and expat advice are like a tickle at the back of your brain. What are your options and what do you need to do to exercise them?

Stories from a first timer in Bangkok by Xagrin

Stories from a first timer in Bangkok, to all newcomers to Bangkok; aka city of angels; aka sin city; aka the city that never sleeps, I just spent 8 days staying right off of Sukhumvit and Soi 15 at the Royal President Hotel  which was a really good stay but later for that.  The matter at hand here is the night life and the women; it honestly did not make a difference what quality of hotel you were staying in once a lovely PYT has decided to go with you.  Although it did make an impression on the freelance traffic that made its way through my doors; I could tell by the comments “ooh nice room” or “this is expensive” in cute broken English however the fact is that they were already decided on what was going down before we walked in.  A few things to watch out for that took me for a ride the first couple of days and had me parting ways with a few thousand fun designated baht.  I mean seriously I thought I was pretty street savvy you know?  Growing up in the city and all… but these guys and girls on streets of Bangkok have some calculated shit that will have your head spinning.

With Werewolfs recent post I thought it would be appropriate to shed some light on some of the more common and less dreaded STD’s. Well not so much on the STD’s themselves, but testing, specifically stateside testing. When I first moved to Bangkok for work a few years ago my “firm” had a driver attached to my particular department. He was a Thai guy and knew all the angles, if you needed something he could get it. He was a shady fellow but could be relied upon to help you out if you needed any assistance. We will call him Khun Shady.

Getting an HIV test in Sukhumvit

I hadn’t had an HIV test in close to fourteen months.

Last year I had a live-in girlfriend for nearly a year, and we had daily sex without a condom. I couldn’t swear that she didn’t sleep with other men, but how do you ever know for sure?

In the twelve months since she moved out, my sex life has been more varied, but I still didn’t think I had anything to worry about.

But, being prudent, its been on my mind recently that I should get tested again.

The double Short Time and the Girl Next Door Experience by SukPsycho

Suk Psycho Profile

It happened to me once only: the double short time. This is not the kind of thing you do every day! No, this is not about 2 girls or a threesome. No, it’s not short-timing two girls one after the other.

A double short time is paying 2 short times consecutively to the same girl on the same night (and at a price that would make Wombat turning in his grave, huh - in his bed! Or wherever he is back there in Australia).

Fresh Produce Shopping Part 2B-The World’s Greatest Starbucks and Some Advice About How to Meet and Bang Normal Thai Girls by BigBabyKenny

(Note this is related to Fresh Produce Shopping Part 2A-Going to the Library to Check Out Some Books and Night Crawlers, Bottom Feeders, Break in Jobs and the Fresh Produce Market)

Nowadays, it is oh so green, politically correct, and homo to be a Starbuck’s hater but I don’t’ give a shit about saving the world, am a conservative libertarian republican, love being heterosexual and I like Starbucks.

Something becomes big, corporate, and profitable for a reason and the reason is always the same. Something becomes big, corporate, and profitable when it supplies something people love at a price they are willing to pay.
