We have written about it before and hoped it would have fared better but so far it isn’t looking that way. Had some friends in town, from Sweden - party animals, and after we closed the Bed club we decided we still needed to party, needed good music and wanted a mixed crowd - so to speak. The Swedes wanted to work for it still…
So the first choice that popped into my mind was The Tunnel. Awesome
decor, great tunes, good mix of people and open late - but wait. Not
really. This is my 3rd trip to The Tunnel and once again in the middle
of a heaving crowd the police came in and shut it down again. As I
mentioned before. If u are an after hours joint, only, but can’t stay
open then what is the point?
What bugs me the most is how they handle the closing. We had just
opened 2 bottles of expensive booze, bought tons of mixers and were in
full swing. Okay - not really their fault but it is what they do once
they decide they have to shut it down. The service people scatter, the
security guards play flashlight games and no one is around to help u
out. Meaning - why don’t they store my bottle for next time? Why don’t
they take the unopened mixers back and give me a refund? Do something
to demonstrate that they actually value their customers. Instead they just
leave u hanging.
I was thinking about it last night and how much money the people
running this joint are making from this whole process of packing the
club and then letting it shut down because they are too cheap to pay
the cops what they want for being a big after hours club. I am sure tons of
people still have drink tickets in their possession but were not able
to get their drink. $ in the bank. Mixers paid for that are left on the
table - unopened. $ in the bank. Repeat entry fees for customers who
bought a bottle but since they were not given a bottle card cannot return
for free on the next trip using the bottle card. $ in the bank. Sounds
weird but The Tunnel is making money on this quirky little problem and
it bothers me. They need to fix the problem or the word on the street
will continue to spread - The Tunnel is cool but can’t stay open. So
don’t bother going.
They can learn a thing or two from Soi 20 Windsor Hotel. We were there during a Police shutdown and the staff hustled to get everyone their drink card. Complete contrast to the Tunnel. Soi 20 is just as big with way more bottles opened since it’s more of a Thai scene where most everyone has a bottle open.

Wondered if anyone has heard anything but stopped by tunnel twice in the last week and it appears to be closed. For sure Spicy Club was cutting into their business but I am thinking something else must have happened.
Bummer…
