Writing this week with an extreme hangover. You see…we’ve been open now for about 10 months and are starting to develop some regular customers. There are ex-pats that live here and guys who visit regularly. Most of these regular visitors work for Oil Companies or other time-intensive jobs that come with extra vacation time. The Oil Company guys might be located somewhere in Africa and work 30 days on and 30 off. These guys are great regulars. They’re hard workers, good peeps, and when they come to Thailand they like to party. There is a downside to this however. The more regulars we get the more we ourselves party. It seems that every week now we have a friend in town. That explains my current condition. It does keep us active though and it’s good fun so I’ll stop complaining now and get on with the Weekly.
This week:
Bangkok Bar/Go-Go Update
After Hours Update
A Trip to MBK
Shame Shame Robinson’s Food Court
Tales From The Street
Big Mango Bar Update
Bangkok Bar/Go-Go Update
NEP (Closing times 1:15-1:30 this past week)
- Pretty Lady is still down
- Erotica is cranking with two floors of nice talent. Business has been brisk as well
- Rainbow’s have been busy as usual
Soi 22
Made a visit to Queenspark this week. Pretty dead for the most part. I
do however like some of the bars here because you get a more family bar
experience. Went to Happiness Bar and met Neil the owner. Fun little
bar with a great staff. The Corner Bar is also a favorite. John the
owner is very cool and you can get into some great pool games here. It
makes sense that Queenspark is a favorite with the local ex-pats. They
usually find a home in one or more of the bars here and become loyal
customers.
Other
Had a great dinner at Bourbon Street off soi 22 this week. It’s worth a
mention because the food is really good here. They have really tasty
Cajun and Mexican dishes. The sound system is the only annoyance here
and it’s a little pricey but if you’re itching for farang food it’s
here for sure. Although, I always feel like a fool dropping a thousand
baht for a two-person dinner here in Bangkok. For 800 baht less you can
get a Thai food feast that is also more healthy. FYI…Corleone’s on
Suk Soi 8 has changed ownership and name. It’s now the Soi 8 bar. Not
very creative naming for sure but I met the owners as did another
friend and they seem like good guys.
After Hours Update
Soi Tunnel had been holding to form but closing around 3:30. Tequila
Dragon continues to be open all night so many folks head there after
Soi Tunnel. Everywhere else has been inconsistent because of early
Police closing times. Bummer.
A Trip to MBK
Every so often I have to make a trip to MBK (huge mega-shopping complex
in Bangkok). It’s a great place for 99 baht t-shirts, printing items
for the Mango, mobile phone and digital camera deals, to see a movie,
catch a bite at the huge food court, or pretty much for anything you
need at a great price. This week I caught the new Pirates movie and
bought a gadget. The most amazing feature however of MBK is the
scenery. One of the reasons I ultimately moved to Thailand was the
overwhelming beauty that roams Bangkok on a daily basis. MBK probably
has the highest concentration of this beauty just roaming about. It’s
overwhelming really. Just plop yourself down and within twenty minutes
you will fall in love at least a dozen times. If you haven’t been to
MBK I highly recommend it during your next visit. But remember, MBK is
not NEP or Soi Cowboy. The girls are most likely not working girls so
please don’t ask them how much their bar fine is.
Shame Shame Robinson’s Food Court
I was appalled this week hearing about Robinson’s (Suk Soi 19) Food
Court charging Farangs more for food than Thai’s. I have gotten used to
paying more as a Farang for Motorcycle Taxi’s and when bargaining for
any item that doesn’t have a price tag, but a commercial food court of
one of the most popular shopping chains in Thailand charging Farang’s
more??? This is disgraceful and I plan on making a stink about this
one. Will let you know how it goes but in the meantime I would avoid
this food court for sure. Could you imagine in your home country if
vendors charged more for foreigners than locals. I suppose it does
happen to some extent but it’s a bit too blatant sometimes here in the
land of smiles.
Tales From The Street
Feeling a little jealous after hearing this week’s tale. It’s about a
go-go girl my friend has been seeing that has been nailing the
"Pornstar Experience" to a tee. I won’t get too specific but the
highlights include:
- Authentic Bisexuality
- Loves Lesbian Porn (he bought her a DVD player so they could watch it at her apartment)
- Can’t keep her hands off his package
- She’s hot…really hot
- She can dance like a mutha
- She begs for oral, swallows, and asks for seconds
- Into role-playing and fantasy
- She’s amazingly passionate and great in bed
A few other things but overall I was very impressed. I met the girl and
she is a sweetheart as well. Good for him and for her. She wins the
Working Girl of the Week (WGW) award and will enjoy two tickets to the
Phantom of the Opera playing on Broadway in NYC. She will however have
to arrange for airfare, hotel, and Visa.
Big Mango Bar Update
- July Special: VB Beer for 80 baht
- Kitchen Special Of The Week: Grilled Pork Chop "Piccata" served w fettuccini and tomato sauce
- Our 9-ball Pool League starts next Wednesday. If you are a really
good pool player and want to play for the Mango please let us know. If
you suck feel free to practice on our tables until you get better

Re: MBK
It doesnt’ matter wher you go in Bangkok, there is scenery everywhere.
I think I even fell for a toilet attendant in Siam Paragon! I also have a thing for the girls in Duty Free. I also like……no stop there!!

I didn’t know you could get girls without paying Duty right in the airport. Thanks for the tip. So that means what? Instead of two bottles of whiskey you can get one bottle and one girl?
