Pattaya Road Trip

I had to do some business in Chonburi on Saturday and there was not point in getting that close to Pattaya and not stopping in. Always seems to be easy to find a cheap hotel so I never really worry about making reservations. I tend to check out Soi 13/1 off of Beach Road when I am looking for some cheap digs. So far it has never let me down.

I will say up front that one of my bad habits about visiting Pattaya is I tend to go to the same places. I will try to do better in the future about hitting new spots and exploring some more but sometimes I just enjoy going to the places I already know. Moving on.

First place I hit was the Tahitian Queen on beach road. I like going
there late afternoon and early evening. The place is usually hopping
with a decent lineup and I just enjoy the scene. I can’t say it is
amazing or anything but I have a good time. Past the evening though I
never stick around since I think walking street has better go go bars
at night. TQ though is a good daytime spot and it is all inclusive so
to speak. Meaning - they have a room in the back for those temporary
accomodation requirements and the pricing structure works. I am not
really sure if the 300 you pay is a barfine or the room rental but all
it takes is 300 and whatever the girl is asking. They seem to do okay.

After the Queen I hit walking street to check in at Happy a Go Go. I
like the lineup here, the music, the shows, good happy hour deals and I
think the service is good. I like the go go bars that have the girls
enter on one side of the stage and work there way to the other end of
the stage before exiting. That way you see all the girls and it keeps
the stage more lively. Better than the stand at the pole texas 2 step
shuffle that most go go bars have. So boring. From what I can tell in
the last month or so Happy has added some new staff - hostesses. These
are girls in plain clothes working the room, helping out with service
and can sit with you for a ladydrink or 2. They can be barfined but I
am not sure about the rest of the details. There were some cuties
though and they were more fun to chat with than the dancers in my book.
I like the model and I hope it works out well and can provide another
dimension to the experience. For sure these girls do not dance - they
made that very clear.

After Happy I headed for Soi Diamond. First stop was Super Baby. I
love this place. For a couple of reasons. The lineup is pretty hot but
they tend to prefer Asian customers and you have to jump on them quick.
They move a lot a girls there and the girls are not shy about moving to
the customer who appear to be ready to barfine versus just buying
drinks and hanging out. Sometimes that bugs me but I understand the biz
so I can’t blame them. So go early and barfine it quick if u see the
right one. There are other reasons for checking out Super Baby though.
Great service staff, good drinks and the music is awesome. They have a
DJ who plays euro techno music and I usually find myself standing up
and dancing to it when I am there. Just great tunes. This coupled with
the fact that the girls usually are really moving and get into the
music as well. Just makes for a much more fun go go experience. The
place has been owned by the same Thai guy for a long time and usually
you will see him sitting in the corner making sure the place is going
well. I like his attention to the place and you can see that it makes a
difference. I make a point of always saying hello and from time to time
I also say hello to the Pattaya police chief who also shares my passion
for Super Baby. Good spot. Check it out. The full nude shows at Super
Baby are worth seeing as well just make sure to make some room for the
girls on the rail if you happen to be sitting close to the stage.

After Super Baby sometimes I got to Carousel to check out there full
nude revolving stage shows but not always. The lineup is not bad though
but the music sucks and apart from the shows I tend not to stick
around. Moving past Super Baby on Soi Diamond just keep walking until
you almost get to the end. Look on the right for a small club called
Casino. I dig this place. It is not the normal scene and I appreciate
the differences. First off it is more of a club than anything else with
some good tunes, good drinks and loaded with dancing girls. Not go go
girls but top of the line dancing girls who end up dancing 4-5 hours
per night. They all take turns dancing for 15-30 minutes at a time on
the various spots strategically located throughout the club. So there
is plenty of eye candy and these girls are great dancers. You can buy
them ladydrinks and there are barfines but that does not translate to
taking them home. Some won’t even accept barfines and others may say no
to the drinks if they don’t feel there is a match. I have been there
more than a few times to watch your typical punter fall flat on his
face begging to take one of the girls home. Mind you - some will but
most don’t go with customers because they get a good salary for dancing
and they can make some decent ladydrink money as well. Given almost
anywhere in Pattaya, even walking down the street, you can find a lady
to go home with I like the Casino model. Sometimes it is fun to want
something you can’t have. This is a fun place and generally they are
still going until 4-5 in the morning.

After Casino I actually went to one of the Thai clubs outside the
central Pattaya area. I am going to write more on this later when I
have a bigger post on the Thai club scene which I have been checking
out more in both Pattaya and Bangkok.

After the Thai club I went back to walking street to dance at Marine
1. From 1 am on I like the music here, the crowd and the energy. Tons
of girls and just a fun place to dance and people watch.

Once I left Marine 1 I went to the ladyboy bar right under the
escalators. I think it is called Jenny Star Bar - have to confirm that
next time. This place stays open way late, the music is pumping, drinks
are reasonable and there are plenty of fun ladyboys dancing on the
stage. Providing you don’t mind the scene this is a great place to wind
up the night for a while.

Across the street and to the left I think, you can find the
Performance Bar. Look for it right on walking street - it is not a big
place but from 1-5 in the morning it will be jam packed with some great
house dance tunes rocking the place. DJ Princi from Australia spins his
own tunes and you can always bet that what he is spinning is perfect
for some late night dancing. DJ Princi also sells some cds and I
suggest picking a few up. Performance Bar is the perfect place to wind
it up before stumbling home.

ahhhh. Pattaya. It kills me because there is plenty to do, lots of
showing and it goes late but at the same time that is the problem. I
never get to bed and I tend to drink a little too much but someone has
to take one for the team. However 1-2 days in Pattaya is all I need and
I am ready to get back to Bangkok. I am not sure why that is. It could
be the type of tourists there or just the over abundance of nightlife
but no matter what I usually cannot be in Pattaya for more than 3 days
or I go insane.

there you have it. more on the Thai scene later.
