There are a ton of comments and thought I would do another post to answer some of them. Some of this might be too much information but let me defer to the title of the blog for an explanation. I would also add that the purpose of announcing the strategy was to make sure people heard it from us first and to solicit feedback. In no way do we think this is a slam dunk but we have done the math and feel like it is better than the alternative or the traditional beer bar model. I won’t get into comparing this with a go-go bar because it makes no sense to do so.

I needed to get back to writing, playing with technology, sharing our experiences and connecting with people for purposes of running a better bar. That was the point. Sure it has grown into cutting edge political analysis, reader submissions, the occasional weekly, nightlife coverage, and a stunning amount of commenting by all of our readers. It has been great fun and even pmmp caught the Wordpress bug and created some cool guides - this one and this one.
All this aside though - this blog was always about sharing with you our experiences in starting the Big Mango Bar. So now we will use this space to tell you about the new Big Mango Bar.

Tons going on folks. Almost too much that I have no time to go out. I did hit Nana the other night though, I was on a mission, and ran into yp, tafkatbb, and some other readers. Good stuff.
Ate at Bali last night. Anyone else been there? Tasty stuff. Forgot all about Indonesian food since leaving Hong Kong but I will be back.
I am working on the post about the new Big Mango, I am calling it - The new way forward. I think you will all enjoy it and we plan on revealing some new stuff but need to finish up the details first.

I would like to comment on several themes appearing recently on the Stickman site and discuss several differences between my own and Stickman’s views about the Thailand Girl Scene.
(note: the term Thailand Girl Scene is used here to describe and encompass the full range of activity between farangs and Thai women—both short balling and long balling, activity that occurs within the context of an actual business e.g. GoGo bar, Beer bar, Massage Joint, etc., and the big wide world of freelancers and everyday Thai women willing and wishing to bang and date farangs1 .)
You can read Stickman directly but a fair executive summary of his recently expressed view is All Thai Women who work or participate in the Farang dating scene are prostitutes and any type of relationship except short time sex for money is destined for failure and disaster-both emotionally and financially.

Early half of 2007 I was looking for a new apartment and a friend of mine recommended I have a look at his place on a subsoi of suk soi22. I jumped out of a taxi and walked to the reception area where a girl had her back to me filing some stuff away.
Call it cliche but it was almost as if she turned round in slow mo to some camp romance music from a chick flick. 5′6, big piercing brown eyes, huge pouting lips that are ideal for (ill leave that to your imagination) curly flowing funky haircut and 1 of the tightest bodies iv ever seen, especially in her skimpy and slightly relieving office gear. I was in love.

Why is it every time I decide to go late the shit happens? We closed out of cowboy at 1am last night and headed to Spicy. I had 2 newbies in tow and promised them good times. We got to Spicy at 1:10am and it was closed. In fact - it had never even opened! So we headed to Boss and it was rammed. We stayed anyway only to have the place close at 2:00am. This sucks!

Well foks. Been so busy lately I did not even see that the 10,000th comment had flown right by. When I first mentioned this we actually had about 400 comments to go so I thought I had sometime but guess not. Congrats to Combover:
I’ve thought about that ATM, but I’m confident that once happily cocooned in a dark moist Nana interior, that I would be safe from the effects of any blast.
