I’ve heard the question many times: Why does Thailand have so many ladyboys?
Known locally as “ladyboys” the Thai word is krathoey and it covers a range of people who started life as male children and somewhere along the way landed somewhere on the continuum between simply dressing in women’s frocks, to adding tits and losing their cocks.
While I can’t quote any actual statistics, I think everyone who has ever visited the Land of Smiles will agree that Thailand has far more than it’s fair share of “third gender” smiles.

Pattaya Walking Tour No 1.
When you need a change from Walking Street, this walking tour of Pattaya will introduce you to some quality bars and hopefully, some quality women. If it doesn’t, you are at least guaranteed a ‘happy ending’. Read on.
The tour starts in the Honey Pot, Soi 2 around 8.30pm when the bar is fully staffed but has no customers/competition. This bar has some quality coyotes, air conditioning and little or no hip-hop. Yeaaaaaah. The DJ plays a bit to appease the girls but the Pinoy band plays mostly 1970 - 90s rock/pop. The bar is enforcing the no-smoking ban and Heineken costs Bt105 a bottle. If nothing takes your fancy in Honey Pot then it’s time to move on when the bar starts filling up with customers around 9.30pm.

Major changes done by the owner recently to Erotica and Mercury in Nana Plaza. I’ve updated the guide pages linked previously if you’re interested. Mercury is now a beer bar basically with two Pool tables. Very lame. Erotica 3rd floor has gone Coyote. The girls wear short shorts and tops and are at best average looking. Also lame. Erotica 4th floor has been reopened and is kind of cool. Many of the spinners that previously worked downstairs are now upstairs. It’s not too bad. One other note, they have pretty nice short time rooms on the 5th floor. They’re 300 baht and are very clean, well as clean as a short time room can be, and also have showers.

Got a call from a buddy who lives on my soi who happens to be under the weather. He wanted to know if I could bring some movies over to give him something to do while he recuperated. I took him over a bag of movies being careful to remove any of the weird Saxondale like porn that I might possess. Later in the evening I sent him an MMS hoping to cheer him up a bit but turns out his crappy phone won’t do MMS. Photo to the left.

As if it ever left. When I phoned a friend from the Bangkok airport, the one whose name is spelled something like “Superbsalamibarmy” but pronounced “Suwannapoom,” he described Fun City as a “vulgar shithole.”
I wish he’d quit soft-pedaling his opinions and just let ‘er rip, but yes: PTY is manifestly vulgar and allusions to unsanitary cavities (sidewalks, alcohol dispensaries, meatier apertures) are apt.
So what. I like the air and space, decent infrastructure, and range of entertainment-options: which of course include catching up with all the stuff I’ve been intending to watch on my MacBook but haven’t gotten around to.

Well folks - been busy, busy. Yes - the hunt for the new mango continues. Sorry we can’t be more open about the process but in normal fashion we will tell all once it is safe to do so. So don’t think because it is quiet that we are not looking for a place. We are. Have not been out much but went trolling on Monday. Tried to hit some places I had not been to in a while just to see how bad or good they are doing. I decided to save this for a larger post and will relate it back to Star Wars and the use of Tractor Beams.
