8 Days in Hong Kong - Part 2a of 3 by morefun

So I decided to start my night out in Lai Kwai Fong (LKF). It is the ‘trendy’ part of town. It encompasses several narrow streets that run up and down steep hills. There are tons of bars/ pubs/ lounges here and the drinking spills out into the streets. Tonight is ladies night and some of the bars have free drinks for the ladies.

The first place that I went was Club 1997. This is in small lounge with a small dance floor and some cool lounge chairs, at street level. It was already about 1:00 am and I was not sure what time the bar would close. I decided I would go in and make my mark immediately. While I was ordering I saw a little Chinese cutie on the other side of the bar. She was with a friend and they did not look like working girls. I went over to them and starting talking to my girl. Her English was pretty good and she said she was a waitress at an Australian restaurant. Her friend was cute, but didn’t speak much English. I thought everyone in HK spoke English, but I guess not. They were drinking free Cosmos, which was good for me.

Go Go Dancers supported by the Military!

ThaisoldierdistractionLooks to me like we are safe for the time being. At first I thought the Military was concerned with the state of Go Go Dancing in Thailand. Actually I am concerned. There needs to be more Go Go dancing , more nudity, mandatory dancer training to alleviate the dreaded Bkk 2 step shuffle and later hours but I could be asking for too much.

Anyway - all they were trying to say is don’t dance too close to our tanks and please take the Coup seriously. Yes - of course.

Mango Weekly - 24 September 2006

The Coup provided a bit of excitement in the middle of what is now low season. It’s the best of times and worst of times for me. Bad for business even though it hasn’t been that bad. Good for the social life as there are swarms of women roaming the streets, clubs, and bars. Even a slug like me becomes a valuable commodity in low season. I was crossing over Sukhumvit the other night and it was me and about fifty women. I almost cried. I know, you remote guys hate me for mentioning this. Sorry, just telling you how it is. It’s not a reality like any another on the planet which is exactly why I’m here.

8 Days in Hong Kong - Part 1 of 3 by morefun

Ok, so I have to go to Hong Kong for business. I also had to do a visa run, but they don’t coordinate quite right. The fall out is that I will be there for eight days so that I can accomplish both. Hong Kong is a great place, but also a bit expensive. It was one of the first places I went to in Asia a year ago and I am excited to go back.

As with any trip I should discuss my last night in Bangkok and my state of mind going into Hong Kong. I had a lot to do in Bangkok before I left. One of the things I wanted to do before I left was Thai Barbeque (Mu Ga Tao). This is great. It is all you can eat BBQ that you grill at your table. You can have seafood, beef, pork anything really for about 80 Bhat. This is usually a three hour meal and this night was no exception. I tend to like my meat a little medium rare. Sometimes this is tough with Mu Ga Tao as it is dark outside and sometimes you cannot tell if the food is rare, medium or medium rare, but I still went for it anyways. The meal was three hours long and delicious.

I played it wrong…

It takes time living in Bangkok to experience all the different aspects of dealing with Thai Women. U can read all u want. U can listen to your buddies but at the end of the day sometimes u just have to go through it yourself to really get a grasp of things. Someday when I feel that I am not longer looking over my back I may just tell my own tale of love, co-habitation, and break up but I still won’t walk down a dark soi alone so clearly I am not ready. However I will tell a small tale of what it has been like to try a date a proper Thai girl. How dumb was I…

Camelot Castle review

First of the “Good Three” ground-floor gogos in a row on Patpong 1, Camelot Castle is a tried and tested formula harking back to the grand old days of the Bangkok Gogo. The girls may be wearing a little more than they did in the heyday, but gogo boots and a bikini hardly leave too much to the imagination.

Beer is indeed cheaper than the finest bars in Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy (outside “happy hour” of course, although Patpong has its own anyway). ฿100 beer is far better value than the ฿120-฿130 charged in Nana and Cowboy. And the girls. The girls…

The girls at Camelot Castle are exquisite. Not exclusively - like the rest of the bars in this city, someone with advanced glaucoma seems to be deciding who gets to gyrate around the poles these days. There is simply no need for overweight dancers in these bars. That said, the beer bellies and stretch marks were a tiny minority here - more so than even in Shark bar, darling of Soi Cowboy.

But this bar does contain contenders for the finest-looking girls in Patpong. One appropriately-dimensioned beauty was physically perfect in every way, and was happy to join me for a drink. This was a research mission though, and so I sadly but steadfastly refused to barfine her, and moved on - but not without taking her number first…

Coup Hardship Tale by mbkknowsp4p

Prior to the Coup I went to Sopranos(member club on Suk 26). No sooner had I arrived and got a drink for
myself and two lovely ladies when the owner told everyone to get out
and go home and stay there. Obviously something was up, and I knew
right away it was a coup, as one has been rumoured for weeks. I was
ushered out without even getting to pay my bill.

editor: free drink coup bonus. I love it!

I went outside to get a cab and the streets were eerily quiet - as
if everyone had scrambled to the nearest place of safety. Then it
pissed down in an incredible storm. As I am standing there, the two
girls I was just talking with come up and ask if they can come with me
as their homes are the other side of the city and they were scared. We
managed to find a cab, and they came back with me to the apartment and
stayed during the entire crisis, only leaving the next afternoon.editor: The old I am scared I need to go home with u ploy. And u fell for it? Shame on u. :) Life sucks.

As far as I am concerned, thay can have a coup here every night of the week…..

editor: I would not go that far but I think good things are coming.

The hint of underwear…

Not sure how much more I have to add to the US post. I will add if I think of other relevant stuff. Either way I was happy to just be back in Thailand. The first morning when I woke up and walked down Suk Soi 4 I was quickly reminded of how good it was to be back when a motorci taxi passed me carrying a young female Thai passenger wearing low cut jeans. I got a nice hint of her black lace underwear. Not a thong but the boyish cut undies in girly fabrics. U know the kind. God I missed them…
